It was 2 days before her actual due date that Kat's water broke. In between panicking she figured it was a sign of things to come. Then she spend the rest of her time triple checking her bag before having Victor drive her to the hospital. It was also then she discovered contractions were a hell of a lot of not fun, and she was moderately glad she'd chosen for the painkillers.

The next few hours (nine and a half a nurse had told her), passed in a blur of pushing and pain, and a lot of swearing. By the end of it, she was vaguely aware she'd probably invented new words, but by then she was holding her baby and everything was forgotten. She'd read, somewhere, a baby was like a piece of your heart walking around in the world. She suddenly got what they were talking about. She'd promptly gone into tears, not having enough words to explain it all.

This fragile life was dependent on her, and she found the baby utterly perfect. She'd had to let Deirdre go to get her cleaned, and to allow Vic to cry over the baby and hold her a little. After they put her in a room, and she'd napped a little. Creating life was dreadfully tiring, and she felt sore in all sorts of places. When she woke she looked to her daughter and smiled. She might never get her masters, or completely finish her schooling, but that was alright now. Right now everything was perfect.

She nodded, "he would. Now your potential future offspring, the'll get coo'd at to bits. But that reminds me." She fished for her phone and took a picture of Jamie and the baby, grinning while she did so. "Black mail, plus you know your boyfriend makes really adorable noises when he thinks you're being adorable. It's like this vicious circle of adorable. Plus I need all the pictures."

"Probably so in an indeterminate amount of years when I suddenly see Ace look up and whine, I'll know you told your dad." She smirked to that, even with all the bad things in Thomas' life, a grandkid would probably be one of the greatest things. "Yeah, he'll spoil Deirdre."

She rolled her eyes, "shush you. I'll need to get an actual camera one of these days so I can fill it with all the pictures." she had to laugh to the comment, but stroked her daughter as she wimpered. "It's alright baby"
