Who: Hera, Zeus
What: Drinks and talking~
When: After this conversation
Where: Zeus' place
Warnings: It's Zeus

Hera had a pretty good idea as to why Zeus had beckoned her over. However, she arrived at his penthouse with eery intention of merely discussing whatever had been going on in her absence. It was not unlike them to talk about the goings-on of the pantheon and as such they needed to be civil for the sake of order. As ever, she was driven there in only her most expensive car, sitting upright and stiff in the backseat as she watched with seemingly uninterested gaze. The truth was she was always watching. Hera was always interested in what was happening, but that did not mean she found it all important. Few things were important enough to require her personal attention.

"Wait here," she said to the driver after pulling up to Zeus' building. Even if the man ended up there all night, she always commanded him to stay. Hera did not wait around for others. She could be very impatient.

She texted Zeus with the simple phrase, I'm here. She wasn't about to ring his doorbell. Whether they lived together or not, he was still her husband and she would not be subjected to waiting like some tramp. And so she arrived at his door with every expectation of it being open.

In his long life, Zeus had had his fair share of women. To be fair, he'd had a lot of people's share of women and their share of men as well. But all of them turned out to be little more than fleeting trinkets to entertain and it wasn't long before he cast them aside and turned his attention back to one woman.

Hera.

There had been other women before her, but for Zeus she'd always been the one he'd wanted most. For three hundred years he'd pined and lusted for her until finally deciding that he had to have her. It had been a good trick, pretending to be a poor injured cuckoo. Hera had gathered him up to her breast and then he'd turned back and taken her right there. She'd been so beautiful, so fierce and angry and defiant and it only made him love her all the more. She'd pretty much had to marry him then. Besides, marrying him made her Queen of Olympus and who could say no to that?

And after all this time it was still all about her. Even when he wanted to throttle Hera for her insolence and moodiness and sheer ability to be the biggest bitch on the face of the earth, she was still his. If anyone else ever tried to touch her he'd rip them apart, one limb at a time.

When Hera was gone, Zeus pined. He would never admit to it though, not even to her. Especially not to her. Hera was a vicious witch of a thing. (His vicious witch.)

He drew out bottles of Dionysus' wine and opened one to let it breathe, and then changed out of his work suit and into something a little less strict. The doorman had been given strict instructions to let Hera up immediately when she arrived and so he went out onto the balcony of his apartment, looking out over the city. Once he'd looked over the lowlands of Greece from the mountain, but now he had to make do with a penthouse apartment.

His phone buzzed on the table and Zeus went to check it, finding the message from his wife and walking over to make sure the elevator was unlocked. Already the lights above were telling him someone was travelling up and he knew it had to be her. So he poured a glass of wine and walked back over, the ding! of the elevator announcing the presence of Olympus' queen.

"Hello, dear," he said, passing her the wineglass. There was sarcasm in the tone of the word, petnames and terms of endearment not things Zeus truly used.

What Zeus failed to acknowledge was how he had been the cause of her turning into such a spectacular bitch. Being the goddess of Marriage she had the duty of keeping her own safe and protected. Yet there was Zeus, running rampant with harlots and anything that could pleasure or be pleasured. It sickened her to think of all the women and men he had been with.

Once she had been a vibrant, happy goddess with only the best of intentions for everyone around her. Now it was all about honor and protecting herself. As much as she loved most of her children she would always come first. Hers was a heart that could handle no more mistreatment. It was why she was so cold. She couldn't afford to let herself in to anyone else.

As she stepped off the elevator she smirked at Zeus' words. Where he hardly meant what he said, she often used such terms for her favorite children and actually meant them. She took the glass and stepped past him without giving off a hint of interest. She was here on business as usual. If she ever knew of his true feelings she would have never let him live it down. Zeus pining over someone would be viewed as weakness. And in her case she would have used it against him. There might have been a deep, secret part of her that found it romantic and wonderful but that would have been seen as her own weakness. And Hera did not do weak. She was strong. She would never be brought down by such emotions.

As she came to the middle of the room she turned to look at him, taking the tiniest of sips from her glass. She studied him for a moment. "Why have you called me here?"

With a small smirk of amusement, Zeus turned to look at his wife across the room from him and chided, "hello, Zeus. How nice to see you. Have you been well?"

But that wasn't really their style, was it?

"Are you not my wife?" Zeus asked her. "Do I need more reason to call for you than that?"

Hera's response was merely taking a sip of wine without saying a word. He could play his games all he liked. No matter how much she protested otherwise he would always do as he pleased. Whatever expectations she once had were killed off long ago. Pleasantries really weren't her thing anyway.

Oh, she sarcastic comments she could throw at that. As she considered her answer the gears in her brain ran double time. "Yes, of course. But you know yourself that most often when we meet it's to discuss business. You must understand my curiosity." If he had hoped for her to be a complete and conniving bitch he would be sorely disappointed.

"And it's it's not the Queen Hera I'm interested in tonight?" As he asked it, Zeus had put down his wine glass and moved towards her, eyes moving slowly up her body before coming to meet her own. She was fierce this one. Perfect. No woman in the world could ever hope to be his match, but Hera came closest.
