WHO: Lyra & Thanatos
WHEN: Sunday evening
WHERE: Their apartment
WHAT: CHRISTMAS :D :D

It came as a surprise to no one, after knowing Lyra for a short time, that she was a big fan of Christmas. Anyone who wore as many bright colours as often as Lyra did was naturally going to be enamored with the time of year where everything was covered in lights and tinsel and gaudy designs.

She was living with Thanatos now and thought she probably should hold back. He'd gone to work and Lyra had kissed him goodbye, saying she'd probably put up a few things from her big Christmas box, just to liven up the place.

But a few things had become... well... everything in the whole box, and Thanatos' apartment had become something out of a Macy's window. For most people it was a nightmare of Christmas overkill, but for Lyra it was a perfect holiday mish-mash.

When Thanatos got home, Lyra was standing on one of the kitchen chairs and hanging a NOEL banner above one of the cabinets. The scent of Gingerbread in the oven had filled the whole apartment.

"Hi!" she said, turning around and looking a little sheepish. "I may have, um, gone a little overboard?"

Thanatos never celebrated Christmas. Not because he was mad at the Christians for overtaking several holidays, but because of the fact that as death celebrating a birth never felt right.

He had told Lyra he didn't mind her celebrating, and decorating, though. If it made her happy, he was happy.

He was still a bit taken aback when he entered his home and everything had lights on them, and an unfamiliar smell was covering everything. He picked up a pillow with a curious look before walking to Lyra and making sure that if she fell he could catch her.

He didn't want to claim her soul just yet afterall. "Apparently." He studied the lights curiously and set the pillow down. "What is the smell?" He'd never had it before, never chose to really get into all of the things that encompassed the holiday. "It's not bad, I just don't recognize it."

"Gingerbread!" Lyra said brightly and then looked a little horrified. "You've never had gingerbread? Really?" That was terrible! She frowned at the room and then looked back at him, biting her lip. "Do you want me to put some of this away?"

He shook his head. "The answer to both of those questions is no. It's alright Lyra. You enjoy this holiday. I've never seen a need for it." He shrugged and offered his hand if she wanted to come down. He didn't like seeing her up on that ladder.

"This is your home, as much as it is mine. I'll get used to it. I may turn off a few of the sounds though." That would jar him more then anything, having something just make music at him. "But I really don't mind. Now come down and show me this gingerbread of yours."

"I do sort of get into it," Lyra admitted with a smile, taking his hand and climbing down. She wrapped her arms around him, nuzzling his cheek with her nose lightly. "We can turn all the sounds off," Lyra promised and then kissed him. "But the gingerbread I'm sure you'll like."

She slipped free of him, still holding his hand and pulling him over to the oven where one batch still cooked, but the first one was cooling beside it. She snapped one of the little men in half and held it out to him. "Allow me to take your gingerbread virginity."

He smiled to her greeting and returned her kiss. "Thank you. I'm not used to them. I do not want to break anything because it startled me." He would feel bad about that. She seemed to have so much invested in this holiday.

He followed her, figuring if it smelled as good as it tasted he'd have no issue with this. He took the cookie and gave her a look. "You seem to do that a lot." Grinning he bit into it and tilted his head, "it's...different. Not bad though." he assured her. He finished it, simply not used to the taste. It was nice. He'd have to send his twin some of these.

"You know if your plan is to make Death lazy and round by constantly feeding him treats you are doing quite well."

"I've had most of this stuff for years," Lyra said with a laugh, "so this is mostly all the indestructible stuff. There's only a few things of sentimental value, most of it's just for fun."

Lyra was grinning at him as he tried the gingerbread, pleased he seemed to be enjoying it. Again she wrapped her arms around Thanatos' neck. "My own pet Death," Lyra considered. "I like that idea a lot actually. Eat more of them." Then she kissed him, pressing closer. When she broke the kiss she smiled adoringly at him. "Mmm, ginger death."

He set his hands on her back and raised an eyebrow. "I doubt they can endure a sword being thrown at them. I don't want to make you sad because I broke something, that's all."

He shook his head at her, but his smile betrayed his feelings. "Don't go spreading that around. I have a reputation you know." He kissed her again before taking another gingerbread. "Happy now? I should send some to Hypnos. Then again he may try taking you to bake him all the cookies, so now I'm conflicted."

"Try not to throw a sword around the apartment," Lyra agreed with a little smile. "I'm pretty breakable to them as well, I think. I haven't tried, but I can assume."

"I could make him a whole batch," Lyra said with growing excitement. "And send them out with little bows! And in coloured boxes - oh! I've got the perfect one in the bedroom!"

He chuckled, "I'll do my very best. I like Lyra without a sword too." He watched her grow excited and was glad he'd suggested it. "Well these are mine." He pointed to the batch on the counter as he released her. "Hypnos can have the ones in the oven." And he'd remind his twin he really did care, because these cookies were good.

"What else entails this holiday?" He didn't know, but he didn't mind her showing him.

"I haven't even put the icing on them yet," Lyra told him. "They're even better then. See, you've got to give them little eyes and faces and sometimes clothes too. Little gingerbread people with little gingerbread lives... and then you eat them and laugh, like you're an evil giant!" Lyra grinned. "Or, at least, that's what I do."

"Hmmm," Lyra said, thinking about it. "Well, there's Christmas presents and you put them under the tree until the twenty-fifth. And there's singing carols. And often there's a big Christmas dinner with family and everyone being happy to be with loved ones. And there's lots of sex," she added with a small smirk.

He found her little explanation about the gingerbreads amusing and a little adorable. "I see.. You are very odd sometimes." Not that he minded. He wasn't sure if he'd do what she did, but he'd enjoy the treats none the less.

"I am assuming not all together," he liked the idea though, not that he tried very hard to keep his hands off her. "But I will buy you presents if you like. I'm not sure what though so you will have to tell me." He wasn't too sure what she would like. Anything related with her studies may be a bit odd.

"I'm dating a Greek personification," Lyra reminded him. "Yes, by human standards I am very odd." She laughed, amused and pleased.

"If you start singing carols during sex it might get a bit weird," Lyra suggested and then winked. "And maybe we'll keep your family out of it too. I like your brother but... not that much." She grinned. "But you don't need to buy me anything. You're my present."

He laughed and leaned on the counter, "only a little bit. And it could always be worse. I could be Zeus." He smirked as he finished another cookie.

"I think you're safe as I don't know any." He shook his head, "good, I'm not much for sharing you. I like you all to myself." He sighed then, "Lyra, you just said this holiday was about presents. So let me get you presents, okay? I've never gotten to do that for anyone."

"No thank you!" Lyra laughed. "I'm keeping far away from anyone with 'Olympian' in their titles. Besides," she added with a fond smile, glad he was enjoying the gingerbread and breaking an arm off one of the men for herself. "You're my favourite."

"Oh gosh, I'm going to teach you some Christmas carols! I'll stick with the non-religious ones, the ones about Santa and snowtime. Oh! I even remember some in Greek!" She smiled at his insistence on the presents and nodded. "Alright. We'll do this properly. Presents it is. Of course," she added thoughtfully, "now comes the conundrum: what does one get Death?"

He gave a nod, "good. I'm teaching you well if you learned that." He grinned and leaned down to kiss her. "I like being your favorite. Even if your plan is to make me round and lazy."

He shrugged, "I do not mind learning all of them. And I do happen to like Stephen King you know." He wasn't fond of most things, but he liked those books. "I am missing quite a few in my collection. I haven't even looked if anything news come out either. I'm not that hard to shop for."

"Round and lazy and mine," Lyra teased, returning the kiss.

"Books," Lyra said with glee. "See, this is why you're perfect for me. Books and death and now gingerbread. We share all the best things." She kissed his throat then, just below his ear. "I like you very much, I hope you know that."

He wrapped his arms around her and under her shirt so he could touch her back. "Yes. I'll draw it on my skin 'Property of Lyra, please return to owner." He grinned at her and shrugged, "I have good taste it seems." He leaned into the kiss and looked at her. "I would hope so, seeing you're putting up with me."

"Watch out," Lyra warned him teasingly. "I'll go find a lipstick and write it right now." Just when she thought Thanatos couldn't get any better he went and tasted like gingerbread. Everything, in Lyra's opinion, was improved with ginger.

"The best taste," Lyra agreed with a nod. "You're dating me after all." She grinned, hoping her expression showed she was just teasing. If either of them were the lucky one here, it was Lyra. "I plan to put up with you for a long time yet."

He laughed at that, and shrugged. "I see no issue with this. It does wash out." He leaned against the counter, still keeping his hands on her. He was reminded of how lucky he was every time he touched her.

"Well, clearly. You just caught my attention." He tilted his head, "considering everything that sounds a little strange. Sorry." He nodded, "good."
