Who: Poseidon, Briareos and Kymopoleia
What: Poseidon drags Braireos to 'dispose' of him, Ky follows unknown by both.
When: Saturday night
Where: Yellowstone National Park, Gardiner Montana
Warnings: Tortures, language. It's Poseidon, he's already earned his own disclaimer.

It was with reluctance that Briareos took Poseidon's call. He could have done it openly, but Poseidon looked as if he was determined to keep this a private matter which unnerved the slender giant. Compared to Poseidon they stood almost identical in height, their weight sizes grossly different though Poseidon was no slouch. He was more powerful which meant he flaunted it continously in Briareos' face. Not only that but the Olympian had just traded Briareos from one prison to another.

There was no hate for Briareos to latch onto. With Kymopoleia's rage it gave him something to familiarize with. Something he was used to feeding off of. The less he had to do with her though, the more he settled back into his daily rituals the less inclined he felt to hurt. It was then that Briareos settled more easily into his human skin. The parade of power all around New York did give him an ounce of strength but it was nothing in comparison to who he really was. The world would see a monster, he would miss the monster because it was his natural form.

It was a little over midnight by the time the plane landed on the ground. Nearly thirteen hours later from when they'd first boarded. Poseidon did have business to attend to, but nothing at all that was reputable to his company. This wasn't a banking investment, this was a murder waiting to happen. Briareos knew it. He was tired of fighting it. The less he had to do with any of them, the more it seemed to tip off the power hungry sea king.

The park was desolate now. Loads of open space without a soul to see. That had been Poseidon's plan from the get go. Who else would miss a lithe tattoo artist from New York? No one would even know he was missing or skip a beat to think he'd not moved back to California. The silence was the most chilling when it used to be the only sound Briareos understood.

"Why bring me here?" Briareos asked as if it were a death sentence. "Take me from one prison to another. No different than the father before you." Or his own. He searched for some kind of hate to link himself to, but there was none. Poseidon was toying with him. This was no more than a cat and mouse game because death was too easy. Poseidon was going to make him earn this, and honestly the Hekantonkheires didn't have the strength to put up a fight. Not anymore.

Poseidon grabbed his shoulder, hand digging into the bony meat that held what was left of Briareos together. He dragged him with him as if the man had been on some sort of leash. "Giving up already?" he said through gritted teeth. "Come on now," he clicked his tongue. "I want to hear you squeal." Poseidon had his own selfish reasons for eradicating his once favored son, but Briareos had proved to be a thorn in his side. In the Olympian's mind he blamed him for the deterioration of his relationship with his daughter. It was a hypocritical thing to think considering he'd first drug him out in the open to settle her. He'd known from the beginning she despised the giant, but now he did as well. He played the double-edged sword, and Briareos had crossed the wrong end.

Kymopoleia understood the consequences of these actions and she was ready to accept them. Anything to change things.

It was easy enough to find out where Poseidon was going - in his arrogance he feared nothing - and it was easy enough to get what she needed once she was there. Now she trekked through the park, following the feeling of her father. He'd know she was coming by now, but what was he going to think of it?

Both could feel her presence now, Briareos more because the hate was rolling off of her in waves. It gave him enough strength to get loose, but by the time she showed Poseidon had already drug him near a deep crevice in the earth. Deep enough to throw a body down and leave it to suffer. He wiggled out of Poseidon's grip, but the sea king gripped him again by the collar yanking him closer to the drop. Briareos struggled. He'd rather Poseidon just kill him than leave him.

His eyes locked on Kymopoleia's, but he knew better than to think she was there for him. She wanted him to die as much as her raging father.

"Don't blame me for your daughter's hate!" He yelled, hands gripping at Poseidon's to get loose. Briareos was just another pawn in one of Poseidon's mad games. He couldn't beat him, so why make a game of it? "You did this yourself..." He was desperate, frantic even, this was an unfair match.

"What are you doing here baby girl?" He asked. He was gettting rid of the problem in the only way he knew how. By force

Briareos' feet were dangerously close the more he struggled. He was defenseless and at the disadvantage.

Kymopoleia watched her father for a moment. The fact that Briareos was there meant very little too her right now. Her sole focus was Poseidon.

She'd thought she might say something, might make some threat, might tell him why she was doing this. But every word she'd considered felt empty. There was only one thing that Poseidon would hear that could make him take her seriously.

From her coat pocket, Kymopoleia drew out the handgun and lifted it, aiming at her father's chest. I'm not your baby girl. She fired.

When she reached into her coat Poseidon shove Briareos to the edge. "I'm doing this for you,' he told her. As if getting rid of Briareos got rid of the problem. It was sentiment from Poseidon but she had already fired.

Briareos shut his eyes tight, using what was left of his long arms to grip the dirt and keep himself from falling completely down the hole.

Poseidon dropped coated in his own blood. "What the fuck," he peeled his hand from the affected area in his shoulder.

"You've never done a single thing in your life for someone else," Ky sneered, frustrated now that she'd failed to get a kill shot. She didn't really know guns though and it was hardly surprising she hadn't managed it. She aimed and fired again - because maybe if she just kept shooting one will make sure he died. Ky didn't care if it sent the furies after her. The moment Poseidon went down, Ky would have some sort of peace.

Briareos used what hate she seethed to pull himself to his feet after struggling to get back onto level ground. She fired again and he was certain this one had been for him. He realized after Poseidon groaned and the ringing in his ears stopped it had been another hit to the other. She missed again, this time getting his leg. When she cocked it again Briareos intervened not really sure why. He was just grateful to not be down that hole, and the furies were sure to come with a similar fate.

"They'll kill you," he said. He stood by what he'd said before. He wasn't there to destroy her. Not like her father, though she could argue in the past he'd been as awful---but Briareos had never intentionally set out to hurt for sport. He did it to survive.

"I know," Ky said calmly, still pointing the gun at her father. "But he has to die."

She remembered though, what it had been like the last time he'd died. How everything she was felt lost and broken, not out of love but simply because he was so much a part of her and her belief. What would happen now if she killed Poseidon with Briareos so close?

"World will be off balance. He'll come back. Not certain you will." With smaller power it was tricky. He didn't take the gun from her but he didn't move. If Poseidon died it would certainly do damage. And he was certain the furies would take them both.

Ky looked around them quickly. They were in the middle of nowhere. Maybe she'd get lucky and he'd be eaten by wolves or bleed to death. He must have had a cell phone on him and she assumed he'd just call for help, but...

She was suddenly indecisive. She put the gun back in her pocket and looked coldly at Poseidon. "You're not my father," Kymopoleia told him. "Don't ever speak to me again."

There was relief when she saddled the gun away. There was no luck when it came to Olympians. In the end they still got what they wanted. Briareos just wanted to get out of there. He started forward as Kymopoleia loomed over her father poking internal wounds with her words.

"Come," he told her urging her to leave it be. It was already a mess. He didn't want to be around when and if Poseidon died. While she may not have done it on purpose, Kymopoleia had saved him from torture.

It was with a heavy swallow that Kymopoleia turned and she pushed her hands deep into her pockets to try and stop their shaking.

She didn't turn around.

She didn't look back to see what Poseidon was doing.

She wanted to.

Instead she focused on putting one foot in front of the other until they finally arrived back at the gravel where she'd parked the rental. There she sat on the hood of the car and considered what it would be like if the furies showed up for her.

It wasn't gratitude, but there was a sense of respect he had for a moment. It was an odd feeling he wasn't used to. "You should go." They both should because the realm of Hades would not be kind.

She was shaking which he related to. He'd seen her do that before, from himself. Now he understood what fear felt like.

"I'm not scared of him coming after me," Ky said, watching the tree line in front of them. "And if I've killed him, I'm not running from the Furies."

She stood up though, looking for the car keys in her pocket.

"Didn't say you were." The calmness was eerie, almost as if in some silent way he'd thanked her though Briareos had no conception of such things. It made this terribly strange. She was libel to leave him standing there in the middle of nowhere, he didn't make expectations for people. He ran a hand through his black, stringy hair set on walking himself back.

Ky found her keys and unlocked the door, watching Briareos. "He brought you here to kill you, didn't he?"

"Or worse," he said looking off into the distant black sky. "Torture is so much easier than death." He'd gone reluctantly but he was exhausted now. His entire body shook from the inside out, not out of fear but because he'd needed to protect himself from what now? This wouldn't be the last time Poseidon would try to dispose of him. "I was the solution and I was the problem." Briareos looked at her then, dead on. "He did it for you or to sate his vengeance." That much Briareos understood. "A common theme with Olympians and their forefathers."

When he looked at her, Kymopoleia flinched, a reaction ingrained even after so long out from under his thumb. She had to drop her gaze, too vulnerable right now to deal with standing up to him. She was glad he wasn't trying to argue, trying to start something, trying to make those circular arguments of ownership. Right now she was too worn out.

"He did for himself," Kymopoleia said. "He's never done anything for me." After pulling open the car door she looked up at Briareos seriously. "You know that I could shoot you right now if I wanted to."

"I feed off your hate. All of you." He was just as exhausted, tired of fighting Poseidon's battles that he wasn't able to stand up to anymore. "Don't have the strength anymore." He didn't move toward the car, nor did he force himself in. "I know."

When he made it clear he understood that she could kill him, Ky simply nodded. She hoped that she was doing the right thing by not shooting him. There was a hopeful part that said if she showed mercy here, mercy like he'd never shown before, then he wouldn't come to hurt her again.

Perhaps a part of it had been what he's written just a day earlier. I'm not here to destroy you, he'd said. It was the first time she'd ever heard anything like that from him and she hadn't known how to read it.

Ky pulled her car door open a little more and said to him, "Follow this this road." she told him. "It hits a highway in about three miles so you can probably hitch a ride somewhere from there."

It wasn't her mercy here that resonated inside him, in some silent way she had prevented him from being closed into a darkness that terrified him. That hole that Poseidon had near shoved him into would have been the bane of his sanity. It would have taken days, weeks even to kill him. The solace of that black hole would have been complete torture. Poseidon knew that.

He gave her a curt nod, stepping aside from the car to walk around. It would be a long hike, but the open air was something he'd never been so ecstatic to have as he did at that moment. He started ahead not once looming over her like a shadow.

Ky climbed into the car and behind the wheel took a few deep breathes before starting the engine. The headlights caught the shape of the titan walking in front of her and Ky pulled out and passed him, alone now with the darkness of the surrounding forest and go back home, wherever that was.
