Who: Hebe, Hera, and Hercules later on
What: Mother-daughter girlie catchup times! Aaaand then not-so-fun times. D:
When: Saturday, Dec 4 lunchtime
Where: Maze (Hope this works! I figure Hera would want to spoil and go to an upscale place)

In all her years away from Olympus and under the protective shadow of, well, practically everyone she loved Hebe had gotten used to the every day sort of eating. She had forgotten about fine dining but yet as she waited in the lobby of the Maze restaurant she felt comfortable. Though her nerves were getting the better of her she remained calm and poised. Often times she could blend into whatever the atmosphere was and she did it well even in such a classy place. Thankfully it wasn't a coat and tie restaurant though she did feel a little under dressed, and yet she was more dressed up than usual these days.

As she waited the hostess asked if she wanted to be seated but Hebe refused, stating that she would wait for her lunch mate. The powerful presence of her mother would be unmistakable so she didn't bother pretending to look for her. Instead, she looked around casually checking her phone every now and then to appease the mortal hostess. It offered a fairly good show and made her feel a little less extraordinary amongst so many of them.

Hera would never claim to be a good mother. She wondered every so often if she could have been, should things have been different and Zeus hadn't cut love straight out of her, but it wasn't often. With her daughter near she did so a little more. She tried though, taking her little Hebe out to up scale places and treating her like the princess she was.

That or she was really trying to outdo Zeus, which could be a possibility. Everything was a battle with him.

But now she was late, a meeting had taken too long and she'd not appreciated it, and while Hera would never be upset if it was for a mortal she would do so for her daughter.

She moved out of the car that had brought her here and stepped into the restaurant, immediately sensing and seeing her daughter. With a smile that would never reach her eyes she walked over to Hebe, glancing to the mortal hostess with a look that stated the woman best not have bothered her daughter.

Settling her attention on Hebe she leaned down and set a kiss on her daughters cheek. Her girls would always be more precious to her, less of a disappointment then her sons. "hello my dear. My meeting ran late." Hera didn't apologize, not for anyone. "Did you wait long?"

Hebe had felt her mothers presence before the goddess had even entered the restaurant. To the younger goddess it was an extremely powerful presence, probably because of the fact that it was a familial figure as well such a strong one in itself. As soon as she felt it she tucked her phone in her purse and looked over her shoulder at the entrance.

Only a short moment passed before she was staring at her mother after who knows how long. Her mother, the one she'd been missing all these years. Even if Hera may not be the ideal mother Hebe loved her with such devotion that it was hard to miss it etched in her young face.

Such happiness filled her that her own smile left a twinkle in her own eyes. Hebe never resented her mother for not being there from time to rime. As queen of the gods, Greeks no doubt, she knew her mother was a very busy woman.

Hebe took no offense to the lack of an apology. She shook her head, "Oh no, only a couple of minutes." She stood up, waiting for her mothers next move. From now until they parted ways that day Hebe was under her mothers watch and she would do whatever her mother wanted.

Hera didn't hug or show physical affection, so her joy of seeing her daughter was only written in her eyes. Almost gently she set her arm through her daughters and practically demanded a seat from the hostess. Away from Olympus or not, Hera had changed little, and people still jumped to her commands.

When they were given a table she hung up her coat before sitting down and studying her child. "You look well, I'm glad. Now I do understand why you chose to live in San Fransisco, but I do wish you'd move here. It'd calm my nerves." And give her the chance to keep an eye on her daughter, but that was beside the point.

"How have you been?"

While Hera may not be the type to show her affections Hebe was surprisingly used to it. Where mortal mothers might give their little girls hugs and kisses from time to time (at least until they outgrew the attention and thought it was 'uncool') Hebe didn't mind that her own mother was that way. Even the slightest touch or sign of affection seemed to be enough for the youngest of the Greeks. It kept her calm and assured that her mother did in fact love her, that much she knew was true. She offered the hostess a polite smile as they were lead through the restaurant and seated in the middle of the room. It seemed fitting, the Queen of the gods and her daughter sitting in the middle where mortals rotated around them. It was also very close to the brunch bar.

Unlike her mother, Hebe simply shrugged her own coat off but sat up straight. She looked absolutely proper and delicate sitting there, just as a daughter learning to be a proper woman. She smiled and nodded in response but only spoke when her mother had finished speaking.

"I'm considering moving here, or somewhere in between. It would make me feel a little less worried not being near you and father. I'm not really acquainted with the city, so I wouldn't know where to start looking though," she admitted. "I've been well. Though I am still a little tired from traveling, but I think that happens to everyone." She smiled at the waitress who came to take their drink orders and ordered a sweet tea after her mother had ordered her own drink. Hera before others, that's how Hebe knew things to be.

Hera was always proud of how her daughter acted. She'd instilled good values in them and taught them how to be Princesses. She was always pleased those lessons had took, considering she'd never tried to bother with her son's.

She barely looked at the mortal as she ordered a martini, which was in the end probably a good thing everyone knew that when Hera noticed you you'd probably done something that displeased her, before flipping through the menu. "I would like it if you moved here. It would help me keep an eye on you." With a smile she set the menu down, having made her mind up as quickly as usual. "And as for that, I can help you look at some property." She knew Zeus would offer a similar deal and if she could be the one to get her daughter her home it would help in keeping an eye on Hebe and be a victory over Zeus.

"I do despise traveling for that."

There was simply something about being around her mother that made Hebe want to be proper and act well. Not that she was the picture of bad behavior, but she had her own tendencies. Overall she was pleasant and well behaved, but like anyone else had her flaws. The mere presence of her mother made her feel like the goddess she was meant to be. She simply wanted to please her mother.

Hebe looked through the menu, a little surprised she actually found most of the choices appetizing. Perhaps she hadn't lost all interest in finer foods. Caviar, though, that was another story. After thoroughly looking through the menu she'd settled on the Butter lettuce salad and Roasted chicken breast. She'd decide afterward if she was hungry enough for dessert. After considering her choices she nodded once again. "I understand, mother. It won't be easy leaving San Francisco. I've made a lot of friends and I really love my job. It's still something I need to think about, but if I do decide to move I'd love the help."

She nodded, looking a little less proper and more like a youthful girl, but that quickly passed. "Do you work?" She wasn't sure how to ask if her mother even needed to work, but thought it would be a little rude.

Hera only raised an eyebrow at the argument. "They are mortals my daughter. They should be of little concern to you. Most of our family is here, and you'd make friends easy enough, if you really must g gallivanting around with mortals." Hera was not fond of mortals. They seemed useless to her, and only the very rare few could actually get her favor. She didn't get why Hebe would bother with them.

"Of course my dear, say but the word and I'll arrange it all." Smiling she waved the waitress over, already annoyed she actually had to do so. Hera tended to believe people still bowed to her whims. Then she nodded, "I do actually. It passes the time. I work as a divorce lawyer now." Which was, in it's own way, ironic but it was almost cathartic for her being able to give to others what she couldn't get herself.

It also confused her because everyone knew she and Zeus didn't like each other. She didn't quite get why he just didn't let her go.

Hebe nodded slowly, suddenly feeling very silly. Her mother was right, but yet one couldn't simply replace the friends they'd made. And yet Hera was right. She didn't know what she was supposed to say to any of it except a simple you're right and she left it at that. She hadn't intended to make it into an argument for staying, it had just been an explanation. She hated ever disappointing her mother and especially that feeling of being scolded. It was like she was a toddler again, being told not to touch something she simply needed to feel in her hands.

She ordered after her mother, but what she heard next made her nearly choke on her tea. The goddess of marriage a divorce lawyer? She simply stared at her mother in shock for a moment before she realized what she was doing, turned pink and nodded. "I have a feeling it's not hard finding clients."

The look was a bit amusing, but she still chided her youngest with a calm glance of her own. She'd build a reputation of a ball-buster, cleaning out any husband who had cheated on his wife.

It was rather nice and comforting, being able to do what she could not. "It isn't. Many seem to still need my aid." She took her glass and sipped at the drink, finding it almost reached her standards. "And what about you? Have you something to pass the time with?"

There was more Hera wanted to ask, but there would be time for that later.

For Hebe it would be world shattering to find out her parents weren't at least trying to get along. To at least try and fix things. But still, it was not her place to speak up and beg them to do something just because she wanted it that way. Zeus and Hera were how they were despite what their children might want, that was the horrible, cold truth.

"Right now I'm working at a day care." It was the one place she felt most comfortable, even if there were at least thirty small mortals running around and wreaking havoc on those that watched over them. Children were the ones she felt most comfortable around because she always felt so carefree and young. They seemed to understand her better than anyone. Even if they were just children. "I might enroll at NYU if I move here, though," she said, the idea striking her suddenly.

Whatever there might have been between she and Zeus, the latter had long ago destroyed it. And with that he'd torn out her heart and had now made her into a cruel and vindictive woman.

The 'day care' part made her raise another eyebrow. "Darling that's so far beneath you though. You could do anything, why trouble yourself with the children of others?" She smiled at the latter idea, finding that much more appealing. "I would prefer that. It would benefit you, I think."

No matter how much Hebe had prepared herself for seeing her mother again she was not ready for how quickly her mother shot down some of the things she enjoyed. "Mine aren't around, so it only feels natural," she explained in a quiet voice. She almost felt ridiculed, but she wanted to badly for this to be a good visit. She just wished her mother weren't so quick to put down the things she loved.

She nodded slowly, "I'm not sure what I would do. I'd have to look through their handbook and such." At this point she was just trying to appease her mother.

She felt a little buzz at her foot and smiled at her mother, "Excuse me, I need to go to the ladies." She stood slowly and found her way to the restroom. Once there she answered the text from Hercules, telling him they were in the middle of lunch at Maze. It wasn't until after she'd sent it that she realized her mistake. She returned after a couple more minutes feeling nervous that he'd show up. When she returned her food was waiting for her and the growling in her stomach only seemed to grow. She smiled politely at her mother and sat back down; it was best never to discuss the bathroom.

Hera couldn't imagine spending her days with screaming brats. But then she wasn't a terribly good mother. Hers had been given to nurses until they'd grown and she could deal with them. "I suppose it will."

"You're a bright girl, you'll find something. And not to worry about admissions or anything like that. I'll make sure you get accepted to whatever school you like." Because if money didn't buy love, what else would.

She nodded at the excuse, waiting for her daughter to re-appear before starting on her lunch. "So tell me dear, who exactly is this friend of yours you're carting around?" Hera was curious, and needed to know if it was someone she needed to keep tabs on.

Hebe had made a mistake in telling him then where she would be. He wasn't exactly afraid of Hera despite what kind of grudge the woman still had on him. He'd dealt with her his entire life, now was no different---just another hurdle for him to get through.

It was a good half hour before he showed after receiving Hebe's text, giving little more than a grunt to the hostess at the door. He saw his party, only it was one extra than he had anticipated.

He wasn't nearly high fashion, and his stature alone turned a few heads as he advanced forward, eyes on one thing only.

Some days were worse than others, but that's simply how it was with children. When she'd had her own set of boys she had been on the run constantly. If she had been just about anyone else she probably wouldn't have survived, but Hebe had a surprising amount of energy.

She smiled gently at her mother and nodded. She really had no idea what she could possibly do in school, but her options seemed endless. As much as she believed she could get into school on her own she dared not argue with her mother. "His name is Samson," she replied. "He's very nice, but he does tend to joke a lot." As much as Hebe enjoyed the joking she had a feeling he mother wouldn't like that. Especially not the sort of things he joked about.

When she felt another burst of power entering the restaurant she merely glanced at first, having a fairly good view of the lobby. And then she had to do a double take. Her eyes widened and she couldn't think of anything to say. This wasn't good. In fact, it was downright horrible. The last thing she wanted or needed was a brawl.

The name was memorized and put in her mind to look up later. It sounded half way familiar but Hera tended to pay no mind to any other pantheon. She was livid enough they had taken them from their rightful thrones.

"I hope he learns to curb that." Hera didn't do well with jokes. Most of them she didn't get, the others just weren't tasteful.

When she felt the familiar brush of power her eyes narrowed and she turned around. Hera would not resort to physical violence, she'd so much more subtle over the years, but the desire to toss him out was still grand. "I did not invite you here." Her tone was ice, her distaste obvious on her face.

Hercules felt that prick against his neck as he stepped forward showing no sort of fear of the goddess that had brought havoc to his life from the time he was in a crib.

"Didn't ask" He said standing tall, putting a hand to Hebe's shoulder, which near covered her, his other against his side curling into a fist.

"You weren't going to tell her," his grip against Hebe's shoulder becoming protective. Had he not sought out Hebe himself, their reunion would have been pushed back further.

This was bad. Really, really bad. If Hebe had ever been nervous it was nothing compared to right now. Her jaw was clenched and her cheeks were a light shade of pink. She was already bracing herself for the inevitable explosion.

Though she still sat as properly as ever, her eyes had looked down toward a meal that would end up never being eaten, but they weren't really looking at anything. She was just taking in this unpleasant conversation, waiting for it to end.

As he set his hand on her shoulder she glanced at her mother. There were simply no words possibly good enough for her to say that could end this.

Hera was blind to her daughter's discomfort. Her anger was directed at Heracles, and the fact these two seemed to have met each other before. She didn't like that. She may have had to relent in giving her sweet girl up, but that didn't mean she wouldn't still fight.

"I saw no reason to." Her words were still ice, "seeing how you disgraced her very memory by sleeping with that whore you did not deserve to know." IT was the perfect come back for if Hebe had to be angry, Hebe would be angry at the one who deserved it. "And don't use that petty excuse of not knowing if she lived. You knew she was a goddess. You had no faith in her."

His hand slid from Hebe's shoulder as he stepped forward eyeing Hera angrily. He couldn't put it past her to throw in all dirt to keep Hebe at her side.

When he answered Hebe would be crushed he knew that, but he wasn't going to lie. He had no reason to. "Bad timing," His hand gripped the table, but he was too angry to see it crack. "Haven't seen any of my wives since Roman times. Wasn't about no faith." He'd been around a long time, in his eyes a single man until by chance a wife showed up. He wasn't dishonest, but he wasn't going to stay celibate for centuries. In this case it was a case of bad timing. Had he know Hebe was there he never would have thought of sleeping with Peitho. "Didn't know she was here. You wouldn't tell me. You kept me from her."

That table started to cave at the force he didn't realize he was putting on it in.

While Hebe had been uncomfortable before, she suddenly turned very cold. It was like she had just been dipped into an icy lake and left there. Even though the restaurants atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable Hebe was shaking a little.

They were Greek, adultery was nothing new. To Hebe, however, it was devastating. Even if she hadn't been seen didn't mean she wasn't around. What was worse was that he actually admitted it. What Hera may not realize was that she was not only getting back at Hercules in what she'd just revealed but she was hurting Hebe beyond repair. Or perhaps she did know. It was very possible.

She moved away from the table suddenly when she realized what was going on, jumping up. She didn't even care that the whole of the restaurant was staring at them. This was New York, spectacles were more than likely. The more she heard the worse it was. She didn't even bother saying anything to either of them. She simply grabbed her coat and purse and hightailed it out of there as quickly as she could without running, ignoring any calls they made after her. Tears stained her cheeks.
