WHAT: Let's get Elijah laaaaid
WARNINGS: Eli bein a horny b

At first, the change from being in that underground hell, to being in the real world again was beyond overwhelming. The first few days had been purely about feeding his starved body and resting. But slowly, once he could focus on other things besides food, he had started to Notice Things. Like one afternoon he just stood on one of the parsonage' plush carpets, letting his bare feet feel the softness. He had done similar outside, just enjoying the feel of the grass. To the point where Tuck had discovered him in the garden, rolling around like some kind of deranged labradoodle.

Colours caught his attention. He had grown so accustomed to shades of grey, lifeless light blue, brown, the only difference being stark red blood on occasion. Now there was an entire world of colour. And patterns! He found his eyes fixating on the patterns people word to Tuck's church, unable to tear his colour-starved eyes away until it looked like he was just staring at people.

Choices overwhelmed him. In the fight ring, he had literally no choice. He ate what he was fed, he used what he was given to clean himself, he wore what he was forced to wear. When Tuck had taken him to the store to pick out some toiletries for himself, the vast amount of choice had sent him panicking and he had had to rush out of the shop. In the end, he just told Tuck to surprise him. And he still hadn't chanced clothes shopping. Not yet. That was more than choice there, that was trying to figure out his own style again. And how the hell was he supposed to do that when he wasn't even sure who he was any more.

The thing that was proving the most difficult, was learning to stop asking for permission to do things. Will he saw as an equal, but Tuck was the reverend of the church and he was still living in the parsonage. Tuck was clearly an authority, and Elijah was terrified of doing the wrong thing in Tuck's eyes. He was working on it, but it was hard to knock a habit of four years. He kept expecting punishment if he did something wrong.

Working on helping his fellow ex-captives though, that was amazing. Elijah had thrown himself into it. He had helped organise therapy. He helped contact family members and arranged travel. For those without family, he organised a place to live, and funding. He helped find jobs. He worked as the liaison between the ex-captives and the police as well. There were only three people left living in the church, though most of them came together for a group session on Wednesday nights. That was where Elijah thrived.

As he was packing up the room after group, Elijah caught sight of Will and he went over to the other man. He was sure Will had just come in to check on how things had gone. "It was a good session," Elijah grinned, though a second later he grabbed Will's arm - albeit gently - and hissed, "oh my god, the most gorgeous woman just walked in."

Behind Will, Michaela poked her head into the Cedar Room, sweeping it for any sign of her father.

Will looked at Elijah, trying not to laugh, and threw a chummy arm around his shoulders, giving him a pat on the back to buck him up. "My mate here goes by Elijah. He's just speechless in the face of such beauty, that's all. You know what it's like." He grinned at Michaela. "Tuck's in the house somewhere, his office last I looked. You doin' alright?"

"Well nice to meet you, Elijah," Michaela smirked a little. She did indeed know what it was like. "Not the first man to find himself speechless, I have to say," she said, extending her hand to shake his.

Elijah chuckled and shook her hand back. "Well good to know I'm in good company."

"Just so so much company," she winked at him. "I'm doing fine, Will, just coming to fuss at Dad and make sure he's taking care of himself. You know how that is better than anyway," she laughed. "I'll go bug him. Good to see you!" She leaned in to kiss Will's cheek and then made her way out of the room to find Tuck.

Elijah just groaned and hid his face in his hands. "Kill me now."

Will, to his credit, waited for Michaela to leave before he laughed and patted Elijah's shoulder again. "Maaaate. You need to remember how to talk to women," he said, shaking his head and shoving his hands back into his pockets. "You pulled it back a bit but- you've been steeped in testosterone for way too long."

Elijah pulled his hands away from his face and he turned to face Will, his hands in front of him now, begging. "You have to help me, man! I cannot keep staring at women like a fucking creep. Help me. Will, help me. Dear god, help me."

Will pulled his shoulders back, inflating with confidence, and pulled his hands back out of his pockets to place them on his hips instead. "You have come to the right man," he said. "Of everyone you could possibly ask around here, I am the one you want as your wingman. You sir, need to touch dewy-fresh skin that smells like flowers and dreams, not stubbly sweaty musk. Did you see me rescue you just then? Go and shower and put on a clean shirt. We're gonna go out."

He was relieved to have something to do, and finally get Elijah to experience an important part of the world again.

"God, yes I do," Elijah said, and he reached out for Will's shoulders. "Yes, shower- Yes! I will be right back!" Now that there was a plan, and a distant possibility of getting laid, Elijah was moving quickly. He showered and then went through about three shirts before he decided on one.

When he finally emerged from the guest room, he was feeling excited. "Don't let me get too drunk, I'll make even more of an idiot of myself," he chuckled to Will. "Do I look okay?" He was still getting around in borrowed clothes, but he had chosen a nice shirt.

"You look good. We'll go shopping later." Will had taken the opportunity to play with his hair for a while and reapply cologne, so he was feeling fresher too. "It's all in the attitude anyway. Fake it til you make it." He winked suggestively because making it was kinda the whole point.

He'd taken the liberty of calling a car, because driving wasn't going to work tonight, nor was public transport. "What's your vibe tonight? Club or bar?"

Elijah had been about to say club, but- But. "Bar," he said instead. "Club is too- Much. Too many colours and people and- The loud loud music." He had only been out of that place for six weeks. He was still finding his footing. And putting himself in a situation which would surely be overstimulating was a bad idea. "Bar's better for talking anyway."

"Damn right. It's talking you need practice at." Will agreed that a bar would be better, and he flicked his phone open to see what was in the area. As he scrolled, he pursed his lips in thought. "A bar with human women in it. Doable, doable..."

Elijah laughed and then he realised what Will meant. "Wait! Wait, you mean there's a bar that- That has nonhuman women in it? What would that bar even look like?" He was imagining some kind of gothy vibes, for some reason. "You mean like goddesses and things right?"

Will's gaze slid sideways to look at Elijah, and paused for a long moment. "It looks like an exclusive bar that you are only getting into if you're coming with me." All of this was new to Elijah, and really, goddesses were not like regular people. "Gotta warn you, it's a different kettle of fish. Some of them get pretty temperamental. You sure you're ready for that, man?" he asked.

Elijah considered that, and then he said, "I'm a different kettle of fish though. How many people are going to understand what we went through? Not many. Maybe being in a different kettle is a good thing."

"Well... I think your kettle is different again..." Will pulled a face and shrugged, still watching Elijah, trying to judge if this would be helpful or not. He really wasn't sure, but then, perhaps being amongst it might help Elijah get his head around the enormity of the whole concept. And Will could guide him and get him out if someone particularly unsavoury tried to get involved.

"Can't guarantee you'll pull, these are not college girls or bachelorettes. You sure you wouldn't rather pick lower-hanging fruit?"

Elijah glanced sideways at Will and he said, "...ew? No. Not at all! It's okay if I don't pull, I need to get out there and try anyway. Come on, man, show me this place."

"Alright alright, I just wanted to make sure of what the purpose of tonight was. So long as we're on the same page." Will held up his hands in surrender. To be fair, while some immortals were very tippy-top of the tree fruits, some could charitably be considered to have fallen off the tree altogether. Will couldn't comment of course.

He headed towards the door, pulling out his phone to message Tuck and let him know what was happening. "Come on then, lets go sight-seeing." His Uber was just pulling up anyway, in a stroke of excellent timing. Will was actually kind of excited. He hadn't been to Diogenes in a while, it'd be sure interesting.

Elijah flashed his friend a smile when he finally acquiesced and he happily climbed into the Uber.

The ride was nice, Elijah gazing out the window at the city beyond. He had missed the sight of her while he had been underground. There was such a life to New York, and Eli loved it, even down to the grit and grime.

When they arrived, they both piled out of the Uber, and Elijah found himself a little nervous. "I suppose I'll follow your lead," he said, though that was probably obvious.

"I think that'd be wise," Will agreed, leading the way towards the bar. It wasn't too overly advertised on the street, considering how the patronage was primarily spread by word of mouth, but he knew the way very well, and greeted Kratos at the door jovially. "He's with me," he said, and Elijah was allowed in after a long moment of scrutiny.

Much wasn't working the bar tonight, just the beautiful Hans sadly, so no chance of any freebies. Will steered them to a booth so they had the chance to sit and observe. "What can I get you?" he asked, pulling out his wallet. "I'll get the first round. Remember you're on best behaviour in here, alright? You start playing up and it's my good character you're besmirching." He was joking of course, although he did care about his reputation around here. Immortals could have loooong memories.

Elijah raised his hands in promise and then said, "jack and coke," before looking around. It was so...literary. It was a gorgeous place, and all the details were a treat for the eyes, honestly. "This place is so nice," he said quietly.

It was a bit of a far cry from the common room in the underground, that was for sure. This place definitely was a much more upper-crust vibe. Will got them both the same thing and came back, setting Elijah's glass down on a coaster in front of him.

"Alright, I bet you're just bubbling with questions. Hit me."

The booth was so comfortable, and Elijah was enjoying just sitting there and taking everything in.

"How do they know to just let uhm- How can you be sure the people here are...you know?" How was he supposed to say 'like you' but without soundin like a prick?

"Ohh, right. We can tell. Like, its a sense, kinda. Hard to explain, but, yeah, we get a vibe off each other if we're that way inclined." Will took a drink, glancing around the room to scope out who was in attendance tonight and if there was anyone he knew at a glance. "The ones who are most like what I am I get the strongest vibes off. That guy over in the corner there is one of the owners of this place actually. Wanna take a guess as to who?" He smiled, having a bit of fun with it. "Nah, you won't guess. The Brothers Grimm. They have a super VIP area, just for ancient authors."

"The- The Brothers Grimm?!" Eli asked, his eyes rounding. He wanted to look, but was that rude? Oh god. And they had a VIP area for other authors? That was amazing and ridiculous. "Like...like Poe or Shakespeare?!" he hissed. "Fucking mental, this." He said it quietly though. No need to be rude.

Across the bar, Libitina grinned at her friend Erato. "Need another drink, sugar?"

"Yeah, exactly them. And others." Will nodded cheerfully. He did enjoy being in the position of Knowing Things and Being Cool. "Tuck knows Lewis Carroll, and Sappho is a good time. Although, obviously, in a different way for me as for- well anyway. The rules of this place is that everybody has to play nice even if we are enemies, or we get kicked out, and nobody wants to get kicked out. There's nowhere else like this in New York."

Erato took a breath and nodded. "A Cosmo this time," she said, pushing her glass forward at the base with the fingertips of both hands. "Thank you again for taking me out tonight. I need this, like, you don't even know." She had determined that she was going to have a good time tonight, as much like her old self as possible, after so long spend in flowing gowns and with aching heart and mind. Therapy had done wonders for her when she refused to take mood-altering drugs of any kind, too scared they would interfere with her soul. And Asterion of course, dear, faithful Asterion. She loved him dearly, enough to not have this sort of fun when he was working, even though it was a Wednesday and the place was not nearly so busy as maybe she'd have liked. At least Libi was always a good time. Sometimes it was nice to associate with someone who wasn't one of her sisters and wouldn't be constantly checking in.

"I got you, girl!" Libitina stood up and she planted a big kiss on Erato's red hair before heading up to the bar. Or at least that had been her plan, but as she passed a booth, she made a U-turn and came back, pointing at Will Scarlet. "I know you," she said, though the look on her face said she wasn't entirely sure how. "I know your face."

Elijah looked up at the new arrival, and he smiled though he said nothing.

Will looked up as the beautiful goddess stopped and spoke to him, his brows creasing in confusion. "Me? I feel like I would remember a lovely face like yours. Where do you think we met?" This could be a good in for Elijah actually... if Will felt like things should go in that direction, anyway.
