“I’ve got you,” he whispered, trying to remember soothing words he had heard in movies. That was soothing, right? “I’m right here. I’m going to take the blindfold off,” he said, rising his hands to gently untie the blindfold from her eyes, only to find that it wasn’t a blindfold at all, but bandages- He gasped in horror at the sight of what had been done to her, those deep chasms in her face making him feel like he wanted to retch. Quickly, he tied the bandage again, whispering, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I wasn’t faster.”
