Who: Dr. Gilberto Hatayama, Nana Kimigawa What: Performing a caesarian section! Oh, joy and butterflies! When: Shortly after 12:30 AM, January 2. Where: Seattle Medical - Labor & Delivery Rating: PG-13? Status: In progress.
It had been fairly calm this evening, at least where Nana was assigned. There was just the one patient, age twenty-seven. She did have pre-eclampsia, but seemed to be doing really well all day. Nana had even been able to stop and have a short conversation with her. It seemed she'd married her long-time boyfriend to avoid getting assigned a husband, and this was their second child. Nana had been looking forward to the quiet evening, but when the woman had experienced sudden headaches and nausea, things got really busy, really quickly, and it was even more complicated due to the fact that the baby was breach. She hadn't been expecting to see Gil tonight either, but there they both were, standing over the poor woman as he got ready to deliver the baby.
"You weren't asleep when they called, were you?" Nana asked, watching the monitor carefully. She was doing as well as could be expected. Hopefully things would turn out well.
