Pieces of Awkward
Who: Kathy & Alex Renshaw What: Hanging around, talking... When: Tuesday evening, June 16th Where: Their Apartment at Linden Rating: PG? I guess it depends on what they discuss...
Dinner was over and they'd both survived, so that was good in Alex's books.
Exams were done and he could focus on other things - like what to do with the rest of his summer and figure out if he was going to keep the apartment at the Magnolia or not. Now that he wasn't married anymore, did he really need it? What would happen when his name was drawn in the lottery again? He couldn't live with his mother and Rahel Verma had signed up all the papers and paid for six months before leaving his life for her first husband, with a suitable blessing.
Alex didn't hate her. He just didn't know what to do now. He'd geared himself up for the 'wife and family' scenario, and now that high school was done...
He looked up from where he was stashing the dishes into the dishwasher at his mother, who was scooping ice cream into two glass bowls for them to enjoy. She'd talked about watching a movie and he was fine with that.
It's what they hadn't talked about that was the issue.
"So, how's it going?" he asked, straightening and closing the door to the appliance.
