John couldn't help but laugh as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and turned them toward their house. Not a home, not yet, but that would come in time.
They went up the walk and into their house. After the chatter of guests and the background music and clink of plates and silverware, it was almost too quiet. Their steps echoed on the polished wooden floor.
John kissed her cheek. "Go on upstairs, and I'll make sure everything's locked up, all right?"
