The thought that his parents approved made her happier than she could describe. She brought a lot of baggage to the marriage, she thought, but John was sweet and kind and accepted her and Rose with open arms. It was more than she could have ever hoped for.
She looked down at Rose and held her close, sighing happily as Rose snuggled up to her. She almost didn't want to let Rose go for the evening, but she knew her mother would take good care of her, and she needed time alone with John. They were just married, after all. It would be all right for an evening.
