Jay gave him a slow smile, his free shoulder lifting lightly in a small shrug. "Let's just say that I feel it my duty to keep an eye on you and make sure your distraction doesn't put some other patron in peril!" he told Kyle teasingly.
The bartender slid their drinks across the bar and Jay waited till they'd been paid for before picking his up and raising it to Kyle. "Here's to an evening of interesting distractions, hmm?" he said before taking a sip and lowering his glass again. His experienced eye in assessing people's emotions, reading their faces, told him the distraction wasn't going to be easy for Kyle to get around, so Jay summised it was probably a relationship, and from the look on Kyle's face, one that wasn't going the best.
"Do I get to ask what their name is?" he asked as he lowered his glass.
