George nodded at Lisa. "Oh, please don't be concerned, I've raised five children and this is just par for the course. I'm just disappointed I am not going, but you seem to have plenty of company, so that's good." The shock was still sitting like lead in her stomach as she read the unwritten signs between the two in front of her and she took the rejected food and envelope, feeling even more like she was an idiot who had had expectations obviously far beyond what had been reality.
"Go on, it's already late, so please, enjoy your trip." She waved her hand in a shooing motion at the two of them, wanting to close the door and hide the embarrassment she was feeling at her own anticipation.
