Gwen still wanted to scream. She was furious about this situation. It wasn't Mark's fault, she knew and accepted that. Mark had no say in this. Rather, she was furious at the government for pairing her and herself for just going along with it.
Why wasn't she fighting? Running? If she'd been upfront on a post to the Spades, explain that she'd been paired... It might have given her away, but they might have been able to help her duck out to a country, somewhere that wouldn't send her back. Instead, she was just going along with it.
What was wrong with her?!
Gwen threw-- lightly, but it was a throw-- her bag under a table at the coffee house Mark had told her to come to. She sat down, looking at a list of houses and apartments for sale. She'd found one she rather liked, a townhouse that would allow her a good deal of privacy, something she felt Mark would also appreciate, as he seemed less than enthusiastic about this too.
Even though she wasn't really interested in meeting Mark, she did believe in making a good impression. She wore a yellow sleeveless dress, somewhat short but not terribly so and white boots. Her hair was pulled back and done in a French braid.</lj>
