Aaron blinked. When another poke of the toe elicited no wakening response, he sighed, setting the glass calmly down again. "I tried to do this the kind way, Jayden, but I'm afraid you leave me no choice."
Still no response.
"Okay then." Pressing the play button brought up the black screen that began most every movie. However, rather than leaving everything as it was, Aaron steadily increased the volume, covering his ears with the heels of his hands (as best he could while holding the remote in one of them) until the opening music blared suddenly out of the silence. The shriek of Babbit and the alarmed barking of Ginger were somewhat muffled by the noise, and Aaron promptly lowered it down to an appropriate volume, lest they get in trouble for noise from a neighbor...in addition to the fact that he didn't really want anyone in the apartment to go deaf. The alarm of the sudden change of silence to loudness was suitable enough.
