Jayden shook his head. "I didn't have my cell phone on me." He stood up and stretched. "It's okay, though, I didn't leave it there. I brought it up here, so you could take care of it."
He gave Aaron the best naive smile he could manage. Fleetingly, he wondered if Aaron would see through his fib. After all, Jayden certainly knew better than to handle evidence, let alone bring evidence into the apartment. He was pretty sure Aaron had established a rule against that at some point. But the best way to fool Aaron, as Jayden knew, was to tap into his cop frame of mind.
