Rahel laughed, genuinely amused. He had a sense of humor and it put her at ease. After the morning she'd had, she figured it was deserved and she didn't see a reason to censor herself. This wasn't competition. This wasn't a student. This was a colleague.
"Oh, if you were a fly on the wall when one of us publishes a new paper," she teased, playing with the sticker that held his name and information. "To be honest, I have no idea. I think I've met two Associate Professors so far and scores of TAs, but that's about it. Everyone seems to keep to themselves." Which was fine, because she didn't exactly welcome attention, but it still made the accommodation period more difficult than it need be.
