Miranda glanced over and saw a woman standing there with a smile and a bag. She smiled in return.
"I don't mind sharing," she said, and moved her messenger bag to make a little more room. She raised her cup of coffee and gestured toward the overcast sky. "I'd say it's a beautiful day, but not sure if that's actually true."
Edward paused in wrestling the branch--Miranda thought the branch was winning, actually--to look up, having heard the krinkle of the bag the woman carried, then bounded over, hoping to sucker her out of treats. Miranda took one look at the muddy dog, another look at the woman's nice clothing, and before he flung himself on her, said, "Edward! Stop! Sit!" She couldn't help but smile as he braked so hard that he nearly tumbled nose over tail.
