Who: Adalina and Alexander When: Sometime Friday during school What: Open office hours for anyone who wants to talk Where: Guidance Counselor office Status: Incomplete Rating: Low-ish?
Adalina had been working for the high school in Seattle for about a year now, plus or minus. Some of the students utilized her services, and some did not. That was how it went, though. All the same, she had an open door policy for all students. They could come in whenever they liked and talk about whatever they liked. Some kids had need for a counselor, and that was what the Pocahontas woman was there for. A few kids came and went simply as a way to get out of class, though Lina usually could relate. Mental breaks were something that they didn't give the students anymore. They went from student to adult without a transition period, and it was rough.
Some people thought that her office could double as a kid's playroom. There were all the normal things-- computer and notepads, office supplies and a phone, but there were also little toys sporadically about the room. On a few shelves were Slinkies and windup toys. On her desk was one of those sand art things as well as a snail that raced around in circles after revving him up.
Currently, it was with the snail that she was playing with. One hand revved up his little windup wheels, letting the wheels go around while the other scribbled notes to herself along a yellow notepad. The door to her office was open, and there was some kind of music (more indie rock in nature than not) that could be heard faintly if someone paid enough attention. Really, it was just another Friday.
