Noah smiled. He stepped around to the side of the bed, pulled a chair closer, and sat down. Her hand in his was small, her fingers a little cool, and he squeezed them gently.
"Hey yourself. I heard the message on May's answering machine," he said, leaning forward. "I came as soon as I could. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. How are you feeling?"
