"Why, no, there aren't a whole lot of jobs that would require either of those things, and they can't really be taught to you. Sometimes you just have to teach yourself," Carmine replied casually. He noticed her small movement. Was she adjusting the strap, or feeling self-conscious or uncomfortable? He knew some women had a nervous habit of adjusting the straps of their bags and purses; but then, when he had still been in school his backpack strap had fallen off his shoulder any number of times.
"Ah, math," he continued. "Not my best subject, but not my worst, either. And you say you teach at the university? Would that be the U of Washington, Seattle Pacific, Seattle U, Antioch...?"
