May was really quite pretty when she smiled. Noah realized that he hadn't seen her smile often--hell, he hadn't seen her much at all, hadn't made time in his schedule for her--and felt a wash of regret. He'd like to change that. No sense in them being cold strangers, and they had enough in common that they shouldn't be.
Noah smiled back at her. "And now you know why," he said. "If I start nattering on about botany and chemistry and such, feel free to throw something at my head to get me to stop, because I can pretty much talk forever on that."
As she waved him out of the kitchen, he said, "I'd planned on making breakfast for you, but if you've already cooked, we can have it later. Breakfast for supper, maybe. When I was growing up my brothers and I thought that was quite a treat."
