Elsie's eyes narrowed. That wasn't a very pleasing response, and she thought she smelled a rat somewhere. Who in their right mind would choose to remarry after being attacked by the last man? But then, she was thinking as a woman who would never want to get married at all. Still, Vivian's answer didn't sit right with her.
"But the question is," she continued, "should a woman who's been through an horrible experience with a man--or even vice versa--be placed back into the lottery, or should their name be taken out for future consideration? For instance, say a woman is raped before ever being selected for even a first pairing. Say she reports that rape to the proper authorities. Would her name be placed in the lottery?
