Jae-Mi frowned a bit as she watched her mother, biting the inside of her bottom lip. Even if she hadn't been taking Korean classes at night, she would have known that tone.
"I've been busy," she repeated, even if it was a lame excuse. "I didn't come to play peacemaker though. I came to check on Jason. I heard what happened and he hasn't contacted me since he sent me the cookies. I was worried about him. And I wanted to see you. I didn't even know you were in town until the lotto results were posted. Since you didn't think it was necessary to let us know or any thing like that."
Jae-Mi had forgotten her anger at her mother for suddenly showing up like she had until that moment. Now her annoyance was renewed and eating at her once again.
