Who: Vivian Yahni and 426 (Alex Renshaw) What: On the footsteps of terrorists. When: Tuesday, 2 AM Where: Seattle Pairing Office (and in the wires) Rating: PG-13 Status: Complete
Two things had become amply clear in the past hour. One, the Pairing Office was run with no efficiency whatsoever and two, whoever had hacked their system was more advanced than she'd hoped. It wasn't beyond management - no mission she'd ever been given was beyond management - but it was something worth reporting back to DC. Or it would be, as soon as she had something to tell.
"How long until you crack the last proxy?" she sighed, voice measured and hands folded flat over the back of a chair. Her team had been at it for the better part of six hours, ever since the announcement had come out botched, but if there were no results, they wouldn't be calling it quits for another six.
One of the techies, a redhead with a wide forehead and a pretty smile rubbed at her eyes behind thickly framed glasses. "I'm not sure. They've covered their tracks well..."
"But not well enough, right? Keep at it. I'm not asking you to do the impossible here, am I?" Double-edged sword, that question, just like her voice. Just like the situation as a whole. She couldn't admit it but part of her was almost proud.
An attending came up to her, wireless phone in hand. "Call for you, Ma'am."
"Who is it?"
A shake of the head as the phone was thrust at her: "You'll want to take this."
Unamused at the secrecy involved and convinced it could only be DC, Vivian took the phone and motioned to be left alone.
