She was awake, showered, and dressed by noon she’d also talked to her landlord and after almost begging to have permission to repaint her apartment (for a fee) she’d gotten the go ahead. Now, she was curling her hair and getting ready to go shopping for paint, brushes, a drop cloth, and maybe, if she had time, a few items for herself As she curled her hair she pondered over some things. Mainly, how the hell was she going to manage to move all of her furniture so it wouldn’t get paint on them? She released held the handle pulling her hair with expertise into loose ring curls at the ends. She really didn’t want to hire anybody to do the job for her because this was already going to take a good bit out of her bank account as it was. She realized then that she needed more guy friends. Her mom and dad had flown up from Memphis to help her settle into the two bedroom apartment she’d rented on the second floor of Harbor Steps Apartment building and she had been more than a little grateful but now she was on her own.
She pulled on a pair of calf length black boots over her black leggings and looked into the full length mirror on the back of her closet door. She smiled experimentally before she unplugged the curling iron and went back over to her dresser putting in some gold hoop earrings then her favorite article she seemed to always sport, a hat. A champagne colored kangol to be more precise, she cocked the item to the side running a finger along the brim before she grabbed her keys, turned out the lights and walked out of the apartment locking it behind her.

She arrived at her first destination a 10 minutes later, stepped out of her Hummer H3 and stretched before pulling her purse onto her shoulder. She hit the lock button on the door but not before making sure she had her keys in hand. Her gait was purposeful and with her head held high she walked into Lowe’s Home Improvement store headed for the paint section of the building. She knew what colors she wanted and at that thought she smiled. Today just might be a good day for her.
