"Back in the day, when the first movie came out, my friends wanted to go see it. Turns out they were trying to set me up with one of the guy's girlfriend's friends." Gil admitted, scratching the side of his head in embarrassment. "So I wouldn't look uncool, I read the book. The setup didn't work, but I kept reading the series."
Nana's smile broke into a grin at that and she covered her mouth with her hand, giggling. "I haven't even got that as an excuse. I started reading and I just couldn't stop."
"I could see why, it was a shame I didn't pick them up without an excuse." he grinned.
"You picked them up eventually," she said, nodding. "And that's good enough."
"I agree," Gil said, raising his orange juice glass in a toast. "Again, thank you for having me over. I've had a good time."
Nana smiled, then raised her glass as well. It was silly, but... "Well, I'm glad you came over. I had a good time, too."
He grinned, taking a sip from his glass. "We should do this again, my place next time. To be fair."
"That sounds just fine to me," Nana said, standing up to take the dirty dishes. "I'll bring lumpia."
"If you do, you'll be my favorite person forever." he commented playfully. As she took away the plates, he reached behind himself to rub the back of his neck, to try to work out a tense muscle from sleeping the way he did. "I'll probably head out soon, let you enjoy the rest of your Sunday."
"Of course I will," she said, taking the dishes to the sink. She washed them and then set them in the drainer. "If you like, you can do that. I should probably get some cleaning done..."
Gil made a face and rolled his shoulders, already thinking about the cleaning he's put off in the past two weeks. There wasn't a lot, but enough that he shouldn't neglect before the week got busy again. "Yeah, I've got laundry that has to get done or I'll be stuck wearing scrubs 24/7 next week."
"You don't do that anyways?" she teased. "Are your shoulders okay? Do you need a rub, too?" She wasn't nearly as strong, but she could probably manage a little bit.
"They're fine, just a little tense. Just need to move the muscles some." he said, sighing as he couldn't get the spot that was still nagging him. "If you could, there's a spot betweeen my shoulder I can't get..."
Nana reached out and pressed her fingers in his back, tilting her head. "Like this? Here?"
"Just a little to the left, right there." Gil let out a deep sigh as her fingers pressed into the knotted muscle. "Ah, that feels nice."
Nana smiled. It really was easier to be at ease around him. "I'm not as strong as you, but I think I'm okay," she said.
"No, this is good enough," he sighed, lowering his head and trying to help his muscles to relax. "Remind me the next time I get a cramp sleeping to call you."
She smiled. "It's only fair, you did the same for me earlier." Inside, she as proud, though. He liked it! Great!
"I can't really argue with that logic, huh?" he asked, looking over his shoulder at her. "Fair is fair, and all."
"Uh huh," she said, and continued to work his back with her fingers. "I"m glad you came over..."
"I'm glad I came over too, even if we didn't get through any movies." Gil reached behind him to cover Nana's hand as it crossed his shoulder. "I was able to relax, something I haven't really done in a long time."
Nana stopped when he put his hand over hers. "That's good..." She swallowed, then added, "And I did, too. And thank you for spending the night. I-I've been so worried lately it's just been..." She laughed nervously. "It's nice to have someone around that I feel comfortable with."
"It is. I didn't realize how nice it is or how much I missed it until last night." He squeezed her hand. "If you ever want me to sleep over again, let me know."
Nana squeezed back, then gave him a hug. "Okay. I will."
