Jae-Mi would benefit most from a male disciplinarian? Jason lets her get away with far too much?
And oh, he could see the train of culture clash bearing down on him, on them. It would be a messy crash.
He picked up his fork, took a bite of shrimp and pasta. It had a wonderfully lemony cream sauce, and he used the moment of savoring it to think.
"I've met Jae-Mi. She lives in my apartment building, and we've had meals together, have gone to the park to spend some time together. I've found her to be intelligent, charming, and self-possessed. If she wishes advice, I'll be glad to offer it, but it will be as her friend. I won't be a disciplinarian to her. She's young, but she's still an adult. From what I see, she lives a good life, and has done nothing of which she should be ashamed."
He paused to take a sip of water. "I know Jason primarily through school. He's intelligent, motivated, determined. If he wishes advice, I'll be glad to give it as well. I'll be pleased to help both of them in whatever way I can, because I like and admire them. You naturally see them as children, but for me, they are adults and can make their own life decisions."
