Chewing on a mouthful of tasty chicken, Jeff retrieved his glasses case, gently tugged the wire frames from his face and put them away.
"Nah. I can corrupt myself just fine." He smiled sympathetically. "I know what start-ups are like. Not personally, though I'm my own boss, but friends of mine, you know? It eats your life for a few years, until you're not so hungry anymore."
At the mention of her partner, Sofia's, pairing, he hesitated then said, "This whole... government-enforced family thing is just... wrong. It's like a blind date that never ends." Pause. "Not that I have a problem with blind dates or anything..." He was sitting across from one, after all. "I hope it isn't that way for you, too, or for me. I like my bachelor existence, but... If I have to marry someone, I'd rather it be my choice."
