Walking with Rumpie Who: Jennifer Lily Waller & OPEN What: Walking around with a rat. When: Friday afternoon, Jan. 23rd. Where: Streets of Seattle. Rating: PG-13 (Jen might swear.) Status: Complete.
Her shift at McDonald's done, Jen hurried back to her room and slept for five hours. Her brown rat, Rumpie, curled up on the pillow beside her and dozed as well. Upon waking, she ate some left-over pizza, cold, had a quick shower, brushed her teeth and put on some moisturizer because of the cold. Her skin was dry in Seattle and felt tight if she didn't put on a little cream. She tied her hair back - sort of, mostly - with an elastic, so it wouldn't be completely in her face.
Then she dressed in her black and white striped sweater and jeans, black, hooded jacket and long, red scarf. Runners on and keys and wallet deep in her zippered pockets, she tucked Rumpie in the hood - his favorite place - put a few treats for him in one of her other pockets and headed out for some fresh air.
The sun was shining - something akin to a miracle around here - and though there were clouds in the sky, it was a nice day. She'd stop for a coffee somewhere, maybe, if she had enough change - and if they didn't mind, or notice, that she had a sleek, little rat, poking his nose over her shoulder while the rest of him was safe in her hood.
Jen smiled. She was going to work on her CV tonight and maybe get away from the clown. It was all good.
