Kneeling beside the stump, Katrina picked at some of the dirt, examining it. Definitely not normal. There was another tree as well which had a power to it. The fact that it was the lone type in the area spoke of the fact it didn't belong. But the witch would question that one later. Her focus was still on the stump. And if anything, it gave her something else to focus on as opposed to the circumstances she had left, the worry for her husband, and humanity as a whole.
The greeting caught Katrina off guard and she stood up, focusing in the darkness. A freeman. How wonderful. With all the things that had happened while she'd been in Purgatory it wasn't shocking that there was a lot she had missed out on, things that had happened long after she should have been officially dead, but it was still something that was a bit of good in dark times. Just like the leftenant.
"I did, yes...."
There was more to the man before her than just being a freeman. No. He had knowledge. Abilities. Which meant that perhaps he would be able to tell her information on the stump instead of her searching the nature around for the answers.
"Could I trouble you to tell me about this tree?" Regardless of her mental state, regardless of how out of sorts she felt, out of place, she was able to channel it into this. Politeness. Answers. Figuring things out. If anything, it was how she had survived Purgatory before and she would utilize those same skills now.
