Like it or not, she was stuck. Much like Derek had done before, Cora had tried to leave. To get out of this place with it's ghosts and memories and giant sign pointing down to say she was here. There was the chance that the Nemeton would keep the enemies she'd made off her trail, but she wasn't going to hold her breath about that. She was tired of running, though. You're stronger in a pack. She knew that. But when the pack she had was her family, she didn't want them in harms way. Not to mention one could never really trust Uncle Peter. Not anymore. There were things she didn't talk about, the past six years. She'd survived, that was what was important even when the odds were packed against her and she shouldn't have.
Needing air and space, Cora left the loft and started to walk through town. It wasn't any different than it had been when she'd left with Derek. Before they had started heading south, a chance at a new start or that had been the plan, anyway. Before she heard the talk that the She-Wolf was being sought out. Of course that would come back to haunt her. If Derek had caught wind of it, she wasn't certain, Cora was too busy trying to keep under the radar, to find a way to keep him safe. They had survived too much for that to be their undoing. Then the Nemeton had decided to pull them back and now, well, who knew. She understood the reasoning of the sacrifice. Save loved ones. If she had gotten the chance, she'd have sacrificed her connection to her family to protect them. But that didn't mean it had been smart. Giving power to such a thing... Idiot children, who tried and tried but only found dead bodies. And one was missing and the signs did point to the Nemeton being the cause of McCall's disappearance but Cora didn't want to rule out his need to protect loved ones. If they knew there were side effects, he could have left to protect his friends. As she had told Stiles, he was the type.
Right now, though, there was no searching for Scott. No guarding the Nemeton. She hadn't heard from Stiles for when they were to start their rounds and so Cora found herself at the old park and playground. She hadn't been there in years. Maybe she had run through it in the full moon crazed state she'd been in when she first got back after she and Boyd had been let out of the vault. She couldn't be certain. But with actual recollections? She hadn't been here in years. With children in school, Cora was able to sit in a swing and just rock herself back and forth, watching the streets. She didn't know what or who she was watching for, but it gave her something to do while her mind raced with the information she was picking up and compartmentalizing it.
