L'amour is in the air... inter-team romance for big BIL rivals Abigail Knox, Celebrity News Reporter
While Quidditch players are often seen out on the town together, it’s not often that romantic pairings form between two of the league’s biggest rivals. Yet, it looks like that has happened for Pride of Portree Chaser, Alasdair Buchanan, and the Montrose Magpies’ reserve Keeper - Adélaïde ‘Ada’ Olivier, both new to their teams this season.
The love birds were spotted celebrating the Pride’s win over the Appleby Arrows, along with several of Buchanan’s teammates, in a series of local nightspots. Seemingly without a care in the world, they were joined at the hip for much of the evening, with Scotsman Buchanan having eyes only for his French lady love.
Buchanan, 29, in a rare moment not at Olivier's side.
“It was clear they were together,” claims Portree fanatic Elsa McNaughton, 23, who was one of a group of supporters who ended up in the same bars as the group of players. “They were hand in hand or with their arms around each other the whole time!”
Her friend, Natalie O’Donaghue, 24, agreed vehemently. “Every so often their part of a conversation would stop and they’d just be there in the bar, not caring who saw one kiss the other. It was very sweet, though, not like those sorts of people who just stand and shove their tongues down someone’s throat” she added, clearly unamused at the thought. “It wouldn’t surprise me if they’d been together quite a while, actually, given that they weren’t all over each other like a pair of teenagers.”
After a little digging - and the discovery that Witch Weekly has been sitting on the information for some time without release - it turns out that Ms O’Donaghue was closer to the truth than one might think. While it is no secret that Buchanan and Olivier both joined the League (or in Alasdair’s case, rejoined) from the top French side Quiberon, the former teammates of six years’ standing have actually been a couple for… well, not quite so long as that.
We were unable to find out the specifics, but a source with the Quafflepunchers exclusively revealed that the two certainly left France as a couple, even if this was not for long. They were certainly living together by the end of the last LFQ season in May, with registration documents for the French Players’ Association, QUICHE, revealing their mutual listing as the other’s emergency contact.

Now, with the couple having made the big decision to move countries in order to be together, what next? Time could only tell, and we at Circe cannot wait to see what happens to this beautiful pair.
