For each factual section, Fraser is going to ask the author of that section to go over his findings. David/Dunbar/Percy can pick which of the three sections they wrote, as we discussed in email...

Background

"This is the background stuff..."
"On such-and-such a date, Monte Cameron was traded at his request from the Pride of Portree to the </em>Falmouth Falcons</em>, where he became teammates with Marcus Flint. On February 26th, following a team loss to the Wigtown Wanderers there was an incident that escalated to physical violence, and Monte Cameron had to be restrained from further attacks on Flint. Both men were slightly injured in the affray, as shown in the Medical Reports (see appendix so-and-so). Subsequently, Falmouth benched both players for one game, and traded Monte Cameron to Puddlemere United."

OK, that's what they all agree to. Any questions before we get to the testimony?"

Testimony of Monte Cameron

David provided this testimony, as he was taking this appointment seriously. To the committee, he reported back that Monte Cameron was very cooperative, and would submit to veritaserum or legilimency.

Cameron apologized for his actions to Marcus Flint, the Falcons, and the League, despite claiming to have been acting in self-defense. David went on to ask why he hadn't disarmed Flint rather than physically attack him, to which Cameron said it was his instinct to do so after spending several months without his wand.

Given Cameron's willingness to submit to both forms of truth detection, David is inclined to believe him, or else concede that Cameron is a very good liar.

Interview with Marcus Flint

The initial questioning of Marcus Flint on March 19th had not gone as well as it could have, but exactly how Percy imagined it would. He was difficult, combative, and couldn't see how working with this ad-hoc committee would benefit him in the long run. The man might have been a talented chaser, but he couldn't work his way out of a wet paper bag.

Percy had kept his first round of questions the same for Monte Cameron and Flint, but asked clarification questions, making sure to keep any personal feelings about either player to himself.

If only Flint would actually answer the questions rather than hiding behind so-call trauma.

Falmouth Response
[info]ogletwerp

Familiar with how the Falcons operated Dunbar went into the meeting with some idea of what to expect. It went about as well as he expected it might go with Falmouth not necessarily laying blame against either party, and they stated that it was Flint's word against Cameron's, and vice versa, and so couldn't do more than speculate as to who was at fault for the incident. The result was that the team benched both players. Dunbar doesn't comment that he suspects that Flint's benching was more about the Falcons appearing to be fair more than anything, but he doesn't comment on this since it's pure speculation and no place in the investigation.

He finishes off with that afterwards Falmouth had 'allowed' Cameron to be traded. With Falmouth stating that it hadn't worked out the way they expected and that ultimately Cameron wasn't a good fit for the team, and that they thought he might be more successful on another team.

Wigtown Response.

David reported that Wigtown was unwilling to get involved and provide witnesses against Flint. Though this information was not very helpful, he did add that it was a good indication of how teams aside from the Falcons themselves felt towards Flint.

Dunbar thinks fining, and assigning blame, is certainly a start, and that banning Flint from playoffs is certainly preferable to him performing any kind of community service; particularly since the recommended, and appropriate, kind would involve Muggleborns and/or other disadvantaged wizarding folk - and those folk shouldn't be subjected to whatever vitriolic views Flint might spurt if he can't hold his tongue.

He'd also recommend that Falmouth, and any other teams who don't have such a process in place, to implement a conciliation process (in how to deal with such matters, escalation path detailing the procedure to follow, and reporting to the Commission whenever any inter-team conflicts arise that result in punishment) so that these things might be prevented in the future, or at the very least minimised.
