Who: THE LION RAMPANTS [Roger/Dizzy/Scrim/Mary, Chidera/Kal/Lorna, Meaghan/Micah, Kenna]
What: IC/OOC Practice days!
When: Covers 3 practice days (Let’s say 7th, 10th, 12th)
Where: Probably Montrose pitch (step into enemy territory…)
Warnings: Did you think you could escape the IC/OOCs? Sands doesn’t know why she did this but I assure you the first draft was really quite extra but I checked before I wrecked
Today’s practice is more a meet and greet, getting to know each other and getting familiar with playing styles. After all these are players from 3 different teams who know each other to varying degrees but most haven’t played together!
Morning:- Warmups!
- Lap races, all positions included! Free for all type broom race! Elbowing allowed but speed is the most important. 10 laps around the pitch
Lunch break:- Surprise inclusion of the snack all of Montrose knows and loves - cheese bread!
Afternoon:- Show him what you’ve got! He’s seen most of you play but not up close and not like this. Time to figure out how to merge very different styles to be a more cohesive team! But this afternoon is just showing your teammates what you’ve got, and what your awesome style is.
A much more classic practice today! At least for the morning. Time to try out some strategies to merge different styles that was scouted and discussed in practice un!
The afternoon is more a Merc style. Montrose people will be used to it, the rest of you get to train in weird magpie ways! Fun competitions to put things into practice!
Keeper face-off: Meaghan vs. Micah!
- The chaser squad fly back and forth over the pitch taking turns as a group to take on each of the starting keepers. Whenever the change what side they’re attacking, they sub one of their number out and a different one in to get used to the subbing movements
- First round (round ends when one keeper lets in 10 shots) is bludger free
- Second round it’s beater time! Like the chasers, with each change of side, they swap out one of their duo (again, getting used to subs) Beaters, your job is to defend the keepers.
- Third round is a wild card! At any time Merc (who is flying around watching all this from the air) will either stop a chaser, stop 2, or throw an extra in to challenge the keepers. Quidditch is an unpredictable sport! Adapt!
- Kenna, he hasn’t forgotten about you! Zip around the pitch during this, avoid those bludgers, and keep an eye out for bright orange pingpong balls that will appear in the chaser areas (so he says) with no warning. Don’t crash into anyone or take too long or it’ll disappear and you’ll have to go circle and wait for the next one! (Occasionally one will appear nowhere near the chaser area, just to keep her looking around the whole pitch and a sharp eye out)
The coach is the referee for this so you can contest goals or rules but he decide to be a ridiculous referee and call unrelated fouls! Hey it happens in matches all the time and he happens to know that this match will have extra ridiculous referees...
RIDIC TRICKS!
This is supposed to be an entertaining match! Now that we’re familiar with each other and getting along, let’s add some showmanship! Be as brave as the lions you’ll be wearing and run rampant!
Fancy tricks list:- Eg. Roger’s fancy fun
- (Merc has a few but he’s more looking for fun things players have always wanted to try but it has no real place in a professional match)
- OOC: will add the ones you make up here! Bonus points for ridic names
Today is all about those ridiculous things that fans might bid on and are only revealed at the match. If you want to practice scoring over your shoulder, doing loopdeloops while passing, if you want to try and score with bludgers (aka hit a quaffle with a bludger) then go right ahead! Want to toss the quaffle to a beater and have them whack it as a pass? Do it.
Look, the mascots are going to be making ridiculous fouls. Might as well draw a few.
Oh and today you get to do a dress rehearsal in your snazzy Lion Rampant Robes! Go fly around and feel suitably awesome, and if there are any last min alterations needed let it be done now. Because really photoshoots aren't the same as flying for real.
