Who: Percy & Hermione
When: Wednesday evening
Where: Janus Thickey Ward
What: Percy intends to visit his wife when he bumps into a familiar face. He thinks.

Percy got off of work surprisingly early tonight. The moon hadn't come out in full quite yet. Lately, he felt he hadn't been appreciating his wife enough and thought a surprise visit was in order.

Flowers. A collection of yellow roses in his hand. It wasn't the most romantic selection but it would end up in their flat's living room anyway, so he wanted the color scheme the match the decor. Percy was walking toward his wife's office, his eyes fixed on adjusting the flowers, when he bumped into somebody. Charts flew everywhere.

"Oh, how clumsy of me! I'm so sorry. Here, let me--" As Percy put the flowers aside and bent down to help the person gather their things, he realized that he recognized the face. He thought.

Hermione blushed just a little and gave a shrug and grin. "Sleep?" She gave a laugh. "Have a social life? There are a lot of things I don't do, Percy." She shuffled the papers in her hands, putting them back into order.

"But I'm glad to bump into you. It's good to see a Weasley around here." She gave him another grin.

"Ah, well, trade-offs for success, I suppose..." It was true. Percy didn't remember the last time he went out on a proper date with Audrey.

"It's just a pleasure to see you too, Hermione. Are you coming to dinner this week? The rest of the family would love to see you again. Ron, too, I bet," Percy mentioned casually. It was his way of asking if she were still interested in his younger brother, which he really hoped she was.

"Trade-offs for doing the right thing." Dumbledore may have emphasized 'for the greater good,' but Hermione's trademark would have been 'what is right.' She did what she did because it was the right thing to do. Even if it meant giving up her time and energy.

"Dinner? I'd love to." Hermione nodded and smiled. She loved going to The Burrow for dinner. "It's been a while since I've seen your Mum. How is she? And Mister Weasley?" 'Mister Weasley' was Arthur.

Either she didn't notice, or chose to ignore the mention of Ron. She wasn't sure what was going on there.

"They're both in good health. A little glum that the house is so empty now that all us Weasley kids are gone," Percy sighed. He really should visit his parents more often.

"Well. Except for Ron. Apparently, he still comes around because he can't cook for himself," he said disapprovingly. That kid becomes an Auror and still doesn't know how to properly prepare a meal.

"And Charlie?" George and Charlie were the only other Weasley kids who weren't married. Besides Ron, of course. "How is Charlie? Did he head back to Romania? I thought he was going to, and I just haven't had time to check in with your mother."

Yes, she was pointedly avoiding talking about Ron. It was probably getting obvious now.

"Yes, he is in Romania again for another three year round of research. Left a few months ago, actually. Mum couldn't stop the tears, but Charlie has held off on research for long enough to stay with the family. Ever since...well, you know," Percy was clearly referring to the loss of Fred. It had been nearly five years, but the grieving didn't seem to end. They just lived with it. He sighed. It was time for a topic change.

Percy gave her a knowing look. It was clear that she was avoiding the topic of Ron. "So, I hear about this auction you're having."

Hermione nodded. She knew. She'd grieved with the family, done her best to help Ron through it as much as she could. At the same time, the trio was breaking up. She had things to do, Harry and Ron had lives to run, and things sort of drifted. Fred was never forgotten, though.

"Oh, yes?" She responded, breaking into a little smile. Her cheekbones went pink. "It actually wasn't my idea," she confessed. "I saw a couple of the ladies talking about it in a journal entry, and well... I ran with it."

"And run you did. It's a great idea. But only insofar that people actually bid. I trust that you will bid as well, yes?" Percy asked.

"Yes, I'm planning on bidding. I promised Marcus Belby that I'd bid on him." She paused, debating whether or not to say what Harry said to her. She decided to.

"And Harry's got me convinced to bid on Ron--save him from the rich old ladies. He said he'd back me financially--but I don't think I'll need his help."

Percy had a smug grin at the second statement.

"Rich old ladies can be quite frightening. You're a good candidate to do the saving. I'm sure he'll appreciate it, greatly."

"I can't imagine that they'd want to win Ron, but... if Harry says to bid on him, I will." Not that she minded. Her cheeks went a little pink and she smiled softly--shyly. "I suppose Harry's just watching out for his best mate."

She shifted the papers and turned to tuck them into her bag.

"I'm sure he's looking out for the best interest in all his mates. Not just Ron." Percy said coyly. He might as well be slapping her over the head with a giant inflatable cupid doll.

He shifted his weight on his legs and eyed Audrey's office behind her.

Hermione gave Percy a funny look, then followed his gaze toward his wife's door. She turned back to him.

"Don't let me keep you." She said, glad that she didn't have to respond to the comment about Harry looking out for the best interest in all his mates. "I bet you're anxious to see Audrey."

"You're right, I am quite anxious. And the longer I wait, the more these flowers will wilt." Percy didn't get quite the concrete answer he wanted, but the looks, the body language, the blushes...all of that were enough. He had faith in his brother to make it work.

"Alright, well give us a hug then. It was marvelous seeing you again, Hermione." He grinned and moved in for a quick hug.

"And you, Percy." Hermione beamed as she leaned in for a quick hug. She pulled back and gave him a grin. "Say hello to Audrey for me. And your Mum, when you next talk to her."

She stepped back and shifted her bag on her shoulders. "And come visit me sometime in the office. We can meet for tea."

"Of course, of course. They'll be glad to hear from you. And I'll see you at dinner this week, correct?" Percy said in passing.

"Absolutely." Hermione said as she smiled and turned to walk down the hall. She could never say no to dinner.
