WHO: Roger Davies and OTA
WHAT: Getting Coffee far, far away from Marcus
WHEN: Monday morning
WHERE: Shop outside St. Mungo's

Roger had decided to stop going to the Tea Room after being assaulted with toast. Monday morning, after getting Brighton his breakfast and hustling him off to his grandmother's for the day, he'd come to the hospital and stopped at a nearby cafe for his morning drink.

He sat outside with his coffee and a pastry he'd purchased and nibbled on it, still mulling over, a week later, why Marcus Belby would attack him with burnt bread.

	"I remember... bits. Not anything really vivid, though. Seems kind of like when your mum tells you about something you did as a child and you suddenly go 'Oh yeah, I did do that, but you don't exactly have a full flashback." He tugged at his necktie. "That's not good Roger," Kaira said frankly, "I kind of got the feeling that she--" no wait, it was bad enough Kaira was telling Roger this, but she probably shouldn't reveal that she suspected Lisa had a crush on him as well. That might be worse. Clearing her throat Kaira managed a tight smile, "that she was really hurt you hadn't remembered. I think the best thing you can do is talk to her."

"As for Brighton," Kaira paused, "well what are you going to say to Lisa. Does this change the way you thought about her previously? You could talk this out and things could go back to normal." As if.

	"I can't believe I could be so stupid." And lonely. Mostly he figured he was just lonely and Lisa seemed to always be there. But the guilt he felt now was crushing. He'd hurt Lisa. Even five years after her death, he still felt like he was betraying Julie. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Kaira rolled her eyes. "Marcus is just being a good friend," she made a clicking sound against her teeth with her tongue, "though don't expect to win him over...ever." The thought of Roger trying amused her greatly and she didn't hide a chuckle (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Kaira hadn't known that. There was a brief moment when she stared at him icnredulously before bursting into laughter , burying her hands into her face as her shoulders shook. His honest to god hurt that Marcus had done that was what made it all the funnier.

"That's hilarious," she said when she managed to control herself, "black as your heart." She gave an amused sniff and wiped at her eyes. "When I said he's protective of her I meant really protective," she drew out the word.

	"Why is that?" Roger was one of the few people who was oblivious to the romantic desires of others. He didn't know Lisa was enamoured with him and he didn't know Marcus felt the same way about Lisa. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Well," Kaira stopped, actually stumped. She didn't knwo that Marcus liked Lisa, or maybe she'd always suspected. He'd acted so oddly when she mentioned a girlfriend to him, but Kaira had thought it was some girl outside of work that Marcus didn't want to bring into the hospital gossip. Understandble. But now, as Kaira actually thought about it, why was Marcus so protective of Lisa?"

"Well they've been good friends for a long time," Kaira said finally, more calmly, "don't you feel protective enough of your friends to throw toast at enemies?"

	"I guess..." Roger wasn't too close with most of his friends these days. He kept everyone but Brighton at arm's length. It was unmanaged fear of loss. Roger had never properly coped with the death of Brighton's mother. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
