Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Roger and Lisa (And Maybe others)
What: Morning After
When: Backdated Monday Morning
Where: Tea Room

Roger had woken up stark naked in bed, alone. He'd found his clothes on the floor and assumed that he must have been too drunk to put pajamas on. Roger got dressed, his head pounding, and got his briefcase together. It was odd to get up in the morning and not have to make breakfast for Brighton.

He drank a tall glass of water, thought about eating but decided he'd throw up.

When he got to work he went straight up to the team room and sat down, wearing a pair of expensive designer sunglasses. He rubbed his temples.

Lisa shifted her weight. "Anything else?" She egged, trying to be coy.

"Uh... no. No I think if I eat any more I'll be sick." He nodded. "Yeah. Coffee and buttered toast should do it."

Roger looked down to check that his tie was done correctly. At least he'd managed that over the pounding in his head. "I had a bit too much to drink last night," he admitted.

Lisa was confused. Did he not remember what happened, or was he purposely pretending he didn't remember? Nodding, she bit her tongue and proceeded to the back kitchen where Marcus was standing.

"He wants coffee and toast," she said, sounding down.

Before he had anything to say the first time, she shot out of the door. And before he had time to sulk, she was back. With an order.

Marcus shot daggers at her with his eyes.

"Right. Coffee and toast. Does he want your dignity with that too?" He snarked back.

Lisa gave him a look that clearly said she didn't want to deal with Roger and him at the same time. Instead, she took the coffee pot, a mug and left Marcus to his toast. She had full confidence he'd bring it out when it was done.

"Here you go," she said, trying to sound chipper when in reality, she was quite the opposite. She placed the mug down in front of him and filled it with coffee. Unlike the other waitresses, who enjoyed levitating and using magic to do everything, Lisa preferred to do things by hand. Which, she liked to think, made her better than all the others.

"So why were you at the bar last night?"

"Uh... out with a friend?" He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. "But he ditched me for some girl and I think I staggered home drunk and went to bed." He tried to focus on the details he could remember, like a forgotten dream, so that the other pieces might fall in.

"Wait, did I owl you or something last night?" Because that would be really embarrassing.

"No, but I was at the bar for a brief few minutes and I saw you there." Maybe telling him about what happened wouldn't be such a good idea. Especially if he didn't remember, or even worse, if he 'didn't remember'. She didn't want to burst any bubbles, and it obviously wasn't that memorable for him.

Marcus came out with the toast. It was burnt. Thoroughly.

He nearly threw it down in front of Roger. The thing flew halfway off its plate, tettering on the edge.

"Here you go. Toast. Cooked just like your heart. Black," he said venomously.

"Uh... what?" Roger looked up at Marcus, tired and thoroughly confused.

"N-nothing," she replied, quickly. She gave Marcus another look. "But yeah, I saw you at the bar. We chatted for a bit. You...you don't remember?"

Roger kept his eyes on Marcus, because Marcus looked like he was going to hit him and he didn't know why. "Vaguely," he said, his eyes darting momentarily to Lisa before fixing back on Marcus. "What's going on?"

He ignored Lisa's stare and crossed his arms over the chest of his mapron. He really was tempted to hit him with his wooden spoon. "Vaguely. Right," he pursed his lips and shook his head before turning to Lisa. "I don't even know why you're trying with this idiot. He clearly doesn't remember what he did to you."

"He didn't do anything to me," Lisa replied, through gritted teeth and wide eyes. To Roger, she gave a simple smile. "We chatted and then I walked you home. I was nervous you were going to apparate. That's all," she said, giving a quick laugh to try and make everything better.

Roger took a big gulp of his coffee and swallowed. "Okay... I should be getting to my office." He was sure he was missing half the story, but he couldn't fill it in for the life of him.

"Oh, and forget about your toast too? Typical!" He said angrily before slapping the dish toward him. The toast tettered off its edge and landed on Roger's pants.

"You overcooked it," Roger said with a scowl. He wasn't sure what Marcus' problem was. Maybe he was crazy. Roger got up and grabbed his brief case. He needed to get out of here before a bigger scene was made.

"Git," Marcus muttered at Roger as he left. He uncrossed his arms before he looked at Lisa.

"What?" he said to her.
