Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Miri, Gilderoy Lockhart, and OTA
What: Lockhart has strayed
When: Thursday morning
Where: A random corridor

Gilderoy Lockhart had wandered off. This was troublesome as, even ten years after his accident, Gilderoy still had very little memory of who he was before Harry Potter's second year and was still quite funny in the head.

Miriam had turned her back for a minute to help another patient tie their trainers when Lockhart had slipped out the door that a visitor had left ajar. Now she was wandering the halls, calling for him.

"Gilderoy! Come on you naughty boy. Where've you wandered off to?"

Orla hated working the full day shift. Arriving in the morning, staying all afternoon, then having to sleep at night. It was just unnatural. She'd already arrived late this morning, like she always did on these shifts, and gotten scolded at for it. So for punishment it looked like her day would consist of running errands around the hospital rather than actually healing anyone.

She heard the voice echoing down the hall, but didn't think anything of it. Orla didn't really notice the Healer until she turned a corner, nearly plowing into her, sending the few papers in her hand scattering to the ground.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, I'm such a klutz in the mornings! Here, let me just get these out of your way..."

"Have you seen Gilderoy Lockhart floating about?" Miri asked as she crouched to help pick up the papers. Being crashed into didn't bother her, she was too preoccupied with her lost ward. After what happened with that plant so many years ago, Miriam was very paranoid about letting harm come to her patients.

"Mr. Lockhart? No, I don't think so." Orla gave an apologetic smile as she tucked the gathered papers back into her folder.

"How long as he been missing?"

Miri looked at her wristwatch. It was silver with the interchangeable bands to match various outfits. Today it was red. "About ten minutes. He can't have gotten far, not like he remembers how to apparate or has a wand."

Orla nodded, biting her lip lightly as she stood. "Well, he usually likes to look for crowds of people to tell them about himself...maybe he's making his way towards the lobby?"

She hadn't been asked for help, per say, but Orla couldn't help but offer her assistance in helping a patient.

"He'd take the lift because he likes buttons," Miriam guessed. "This way then." She started off towards the elevator. She knew logically that nothing too bad could happen to him. The Welcome Witch knew his face and wouldn't let him get out. Still, she worried.

Orla trailed after her, still looking concerned over the whole idea of a patient wandering the halls.

"Does he do this often? I mean, I can't imagine how hard it is to loose your memory like that...but I'd think this would be a scary experience for him too, wouldn't it?"

"He just likes to meet people," she said. "He likes to sign autographs." It was silly really, but maybe that was one happy part of his memory he'd held on to, the feeling of being cooed over for being famous, even if he couldn't remember why he was famous.

"I wonder sometimes, if it was as they claim, that he tried to cast a memory charm with a broken wand... why was he trying to cast a memory charm?"

"Maybe he made a bad first impression?" Orla murmured before thinking about it, wincing at how mean it sounded once it was out in the air.

"I mean, do you think something else may have happened? Bad things happened at Hogwarts all the time back in the those days...lots of dark things."

Orla had been too young to be taught by Lockhart, but she had heard the stories and had certainly been there for some of the later events at the school. Hogwarts while Harry Potter attended it had been...exciting, if nothing else.

"I don't know. He was supposedly in the Chamber of Secrets when it happened." Miri just couldn't fathom why he'd use a memory charm on a basilisk.

"Either way," the lift door opened and Miri stepped off. "We need to find him."
