Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who? Marcus + Lisa
When? Wednesday Night
Where? Gift Shop
What? Marcus is gonna say sorry. Among other things.
Rating? TBD

Seeing as it was the night before Christmas Eve, Marcus' shift ended early. He idled in the Tea Room, checking the time every other minute, waiting for the shop to close. Marcus had more than a week to recover from the incident with Roger and what felt like forever since having a civil conversation with Lisa. In that time away from her and Roger, he realized that there was a lot of things he was wrong about and a lot of things he had to get off his chest.

It was time. Taking a deep breath, he made his way to the gift shop. Peering inside, he spotted Lisa and nobody else. Knocking on the door, he waved at her. His heart was already starting to beat quickly.

Marcus scoffed, giving her a look. Marcus turned back to the candle in his hands when he met her eyes. It was awkward.

"So," he talked down at the candle. Couldn't stop talking now. "Sorry about...everything. The Roger stuff. And calling you mean things. You know I didn't really mean it." The shame was apparent in his shaky voice.

Lisa tilted her head as she watched him. He was staring pretty intently at that candle in his hands. "It's okay. Sorry that he hit you." She shrugged. They've said things before. "Sorry about your father."

Marcus put the candle down. Any more fiddling and it'd be reduced to film on his hands.

"Yeah." Marcus was pretty over the things his dad said about him and his life. Couldn't change his mind, anyway. He was dead.

Lisa, wasn't though. "But I still don't approve of Roger." He said curtly.

"Why? He's a good man. He accepts me for who I am and treats me well." She didn't have to defend him to Marcus, but she wanted to. Roger always defended her.

"Because I--" Marcus began, trying to put the right words together. He sighed, full of frustration. Why couldn't he just say it? "I just don't."

"Oh." Lisa frowned. "Doesn't seem very friend like, but I didn't really expect you to change your opinion of him overnight."

"Yeah, well, I don't feel very much like being his chum any time soon." Marcus snarked.

Lisa nodded, looking down at herself. She picked at a loose thread on her sweater. "I understand."

Watching her, he realized the time he was waiting for would never come. The longer he waited, the more unbearable it would be.

"Lisa, I need to tell you something."

Sorry it took me so long. DX

She looked up at him. What could he possibly need to tell her? Something about his father? She put a hand on his shoulder in case it was hard to say and he needed comforting. Above all else, he was still her best friend, no matter what. "What is it?"
