Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Cho and Adrian
When: BACKDATED to last Monday evening
Where: Adrian's Flat
What: Attempting to repair Adrian's TV

Cho made sure her hair was clean and smelling of shampoo before she left for Adrian's flat. She knew it was irrational, but she still wanted to make sure she didn't smell like blood in the slightest. On her way to his flat, Cho stopped by a Muggle bookstore and purchase a book about television repair. Flipping through it she doubted her ability to truly fix it, but she did offer to try.

Adrian's flat was a nice little walk from the bookstore and Cho enjoyed the late autumn air. By the time she knocked on Adrian's door her hair was mussed from the wind and her cheeks were bright pink.

Cho brushed past Adrian, not even reaching his shoulders as she walked past. "It's a book about televisions. How else did you expect to know how to repair it?" Unzipping the leather coat she wore, Cho shrugged it off and looked around for a place to hang it. With her luck she'd put it in the wrong place and Adrian would have a fit.

"Mmm." Adrian murmured. Didn't he say he was able to fix it on his own? He closed the door and set the book on the coffee table. Noticing a very confused Cho, he pointed at the coat hanger on the door.

"Hang it there."

The trouble with nearly being so short was reaching things. Such as a coat hook that was clearly intended for someone Adrian's height. Grumbling under her breath, Cho went up on her tip toes to hang her coat up before turning back to Adrian.

"Well? Where's the television. I want to see the bone growing out of it."

He watched her as she struggled to hang the coat up. It brought the smallest smile to his face. She was so...tiny. He could pick her up and haul her around his shoulders.

Her question snapped him back to consciousness. "The television," he blinked and pointed behind him. "Right here." And there it was. With a giant bone poking out of its top.

Cho looked around Adrian and simply stared at the television. He wasn't lying. There was a very large bone sticking out of the top of it. She'd never seen anything like that before and Cho had seen a lot of strange things.

Bursting into a horrible fit of giggles, Cho grabbed her stomach and laughed so hard she thought she might be sick. "What did you do!?"

"I told you, I tried to fix it." He said through gritted teeth. "You have a better way? I'd like to watch you try."

"Oh calm down," she said and wiped at her eyes. "It's funny, you have to admit that." Cho snatched the book from Adrian's hands and sat on the end of his sofa before scanning through the index. "What's wrong with it? Besides the fact that it doesn't work, I mean. Is the picture off? Does power seem to be going to it at all? Maybe it wanted a femur growing out of it instead," she teased lightly.

Adrian let that last comment slide. She was sassy.

"The buttons on the remote just stopped working. The television didn't respond to my commands anymore," he grabbed the remote from the table and tried to hit the 'on' button. "See? Nothing. Then I tried my wand, but then the bone just popped out of it instead."

"It's sort of refreshing to see you with a television," she said while flipping through the book. "Most wizards would think they were above Muggle technology, you know?" And Adrian was certainly odd. Cho was surprised that he would enjoying watching the same things Muggles enjoyed.

"I think you should leave the bone. It gives the whole thing a big of character. Whenever people come over you can explain what happened." She paused for a moment and looked up from the book. "Though, I have a feeling you don't have many guests, do you?"

He was preoccupied with the remote. To no avail, Adrian continued to try different combinations of button sequences as Cho talked.

"The bone throws off my design aesthetic," he stated simply. He liked bones as much as the next coroner would, but he thought this one looked quite ugly. "And what do you mean you don't think I have many guests?" He stopped fidgeting with the remote and looked at her, an eyebrow quirked.

"I don't think you have many guests," she said again. "You don't strike me as the sort of person who spends a lot of time entertaining others." Cho shrugged her shoulders and read a few more pages of the book. Muggle technology was a bit harder to understand that she had anticipated.

"If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me."

He didn't correct her because there wasn't any correcting to be done. She was right. The only people who visited in the last six months were Draco and Tori.

"Stop reading that. It won't help." Adrian sneered. before going back to fidgeting with the buttons.

"Books always help," she insisted stubbornly. Though, she did have to admit she didn't understand what exactly the author was talking about and that make it a little harder to fix the problem.

Setting the book down, Cho reached for the remote. Her hand brushed against his and she tried to take it from him. "Let me see that. Maybe you're pressing the wrong buttons."

Must have been a Ravenclaw he thought snidely to himself.

Recoiling from her touch, he instantly jerked his hand away from her as she made a move to grab it. Adrian didn't really want to hand over the remote. What could she do that he wasn't?

Shifting his eyes to her, he snickered. She was so...small. There was no way that she could fix it. "Here, take it," he relented, handing the remote to her. "But you won't get any farther than I did."

Cho froze for a moment, not use to having someone pull away so quickly. Merlin, he was strange. And jumpy. Cho really didn't know what to make of him. "Thanks," she said carefully and took the remote while making sure not to accidentally touch him again.

Pressing the power button, Cho frowned. She simply had to know if the television would turn on at all or not. Setting the remote down on the table, Cho stood up and walked across the living room. Bending down to inspect the buttons on the front of the television she pressed one labeled 'power'.

Watching with amusement, he found her fiddling with the remote entertaining. But when she got up and found her way right up next to the television, the amusement became alarm.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" he got up, intent on shoving her away from the television. "Don't touch that! You'll break it!"

But it was too late. She touched it. And when she did, the television started to work. Jaw dropped, he gawked as the screen became an episode of Dr. Who.

When the television came to life Cho was just as surprised as Adrian. She jumped back quickly. Even though she had watched telly a few times she was hardly familiar with the shows. "What in the world..." Cho looked completely confused as she watched the Doctor talk to an odd looking thing.

Turning her attention to Adrian, she smiled. "I guess it works?"

Adrian stared at the television, and then stared at Cho. Picking up his jaw, his brows turned downward into a sneer.

"How did you do that." Adrian demanded.

The sneer on Adrian's face only served to spark Cho's temper. "You're welcome," she spat at him. Ungrateful arse. "All I did was press the power button. Maybe something is wrong with your remote," she offered.

The least he could do was thank her. Somehow Cho doubted that was going to happen.

She sure was ugly when her face went sour. "Hmm." He grabbed the remote to inspect it. Aiming it at the television, he pushed the buttons.

"No. Nothing. It's still broken. You didn't solve anything," he retorted, growing frustrated with the remote.

"Fine." Cho felt her temper quickly reaching its boiling point. She had come here to help and he was being a complete arse about the whole thing. "I hope it stays broken." Cho walked away from the television and grabbed the book she bought off of the coffee table.

"It's really no wonder you don't have many guests."

"Hey I didn't say you could leave," he shouted as he followed her out.

Spinning around just before opening the door, Cho glared up at Adrian. "And what are you going to do if I leave?! You're the one being an arse! I was trying to help you!!"

This had been a mistake. A big one.

He nearly ran over her petite frame as she stopped suddenly. Adrian returned her glare, staring down at her. She sure had a lot of guts to be standing up to him like this. Few girls, if any, had the guts to do so.

"Get out," he said simply.

"Glady." Cho yanked her coat from the hook and pulled the door open. Cho took two steps outside of the flat before turning around. He really needed to hear her opinion before she left.

Setting her jaw and placing her hands on her hips, Cho really had no idea how funny it must have looked for someone so small to be glaring up like she was. "You'd better fix that television. You'll need it to help with the years of lonliness you have ahead of you."

Adrian was about ready to slam the door in her face when she started talking. He snorted at her. This girl was all histrionics wasn't she?

"Better lonely than be with somebody like you," Adrian retorted before the door went flying off its hinge.

He was tense. Walking over to his sofa, he sat in front of his television, attempting to make it work with the remote control again.
