Hermione Granger studies harder than you. ([info]her_my_nee) wrote in [info]my_rpg,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Hermione and Audrey
When: Thursday Night
Where: Percy and Audrey's place
What: Hermione comes by for a visit
Rating: G, I'm sure.

Hermione hadn't seen Audrey in far too long, and she felt awful that her poor friend was so lonely. She apparated to the front step of the Weasley house, and knocked on the front door. She carried with her a bottle of wine, a package of cupcakes, and wore a bright smile.

Hermione had always imagined that she would be a Weasley some day. She wanted to be one, wanted to marry Ron and fit into the family. Maybe one day she and Audrey would be sisters-in-law. She had no idea, but she could hope and dream. Things with Ron weren't progressing quickly, which probably made sense. They'd been friends for so long.

"Hi." Hermione gave Audrey a grin, stepping into the apartment. She was carrying things, or else she would have hugged her friend. "I brought wine and dessert." She figured Audrey probably needed both.

"How are you?"

"I'd be a fool to say no to either of those," Audrey said with a smile and motion for Hermione to follow her into the kitchen. The only thing out of place in her entire flat was a stack of papers and pamphlets spread out over the kitchen table. Audrey pulled two glasses down from a cabinet and dug around in a drawer for a corkscrew.

"I'm all right," she said. "Work is busy and I've been spending a lot of time with my family. There isn't much else to do."

"Right." Hermione responded, glancing over at the table. "You brought work home with you?" She asked, a little surprised. But why was she surprised? Percy wasn't home, so why shouldn't she work at home?

She set the things down on the counter after following Audrey into the kitchen. "How's your nephew?"

Looking over her shoulder at the table, Audrey shook her head. "No, that's something else." She hadn't spoken to anyone about it. Normally Audrey would've asked Tim's opinion since he was a Healer, but that wasn't an option at the moment. "An idea, I suppose."

Her face brightened at the mention of the baby. "He's brilliant. I've never been in love with something like this before. My sister is so lucky."

"Oh." Hermione wasn't going to pry, even though she was very curious. She turned to lean against the counter, watching Audrey for any sign of... well, anything. Hermione pretty much always paid attention--unless she was exhausted.

"That's really wonderful." She said, breaking into a grin at the brightness on Audrey's face. "I'd love to see a photo."

Well she didn't need to be asked twice. Audrey summoned her purse from the bedroom and pulled out a stack of photographs. Passing them to Hermione, Audrey was nearly bursting with pride. Being an Auntie was, for the time being, the closest thing she had to being a mother. Maybe the closest thing she would ever have. And so she had taken loads of pictures, one after another of the smiling and tiny little boy.

"My mother is ecstatic. I didn't realise how women behaved once they became grandmothers. She might be worse than Molly."

Hermione gave a great deal of loud "aww"s as she flipped through the pictures slowly, taking in all the beautiful baby. She could definitely see the family resemblance between Audrey and her nephew--even though he was still a newborn.

"I didn't know that was possible." Hermione said.

"Either did I until Cliff was born," she said with a smile. Talking about the baby always made Audrey smile. He was so precious and perfect that she couldn't help herself.

"So how are you? Busy as ever?"

"Of course. You know me." Hermione gave Audrey a little smile as she passed the pictures back. "Working hard, as always, and spending whatever time I can with Ron and with Harry and Ginny."

Hermione really did want to be a Weasley. Harry was as good as, and Ron and Ginny actually were. And Audrey was married in. The only non-Weasley Hermione seemed to spend time with was Lavender.
