Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Leanne and Cho
When: Thursday morning, during their breaks
Where: Coffee shop, away from the hospital
What: Chatting (Whenever you can, Katy! Have fun in Michigan! ♥)
Rating: Low

Leanne and Cho met up at the beginning of their breaks. It was pure luck they coincided today, and the friends were taking advantage. They headed out of St. Mungos and walked down the next couple blocks to a wonderful, little mom-and-pop coffee shop. Leanne loved their chai tea. She ordered a chai and a scone, then waited for Cho before finding a comfortable place to sit.

"So." She said, once they were settled. "How're you holding up?"

Cho held a cup of black coffee in her hands and took a sip. She needed to stay awake and that wasn't easy some days. Triage was hectic and stressful and Cho never seemed to have a moment to rest. "I've been better," she said honestly. Honesty wasn't something Cho gave to most people, but Leanne was a friend.

"Every day there seems to be something new. The explosion was a disaster, of course. Yesterday we had two Quidditch players come in with major trauma. This morning a little boy swallowed a toxic potion. I could really use a nap."

"I can only imagine." To be completely honest, Leanne's work load only lightened after the blast. Things in her department seemed to be in limbo, waiting for the files to be put back together. She wasn't seeing as many patients as she used to--at least, not until things got back in order.

"Well, you're welcome to use the couch in my office." She offered. "It's rather comfortable for naps. And I've got silencing charms up to drown out the construction noise."

As much as she might want to take a nape, Cho wasn't the sort of person to rest until she went home. She loved her job (most days) and worked harder than most of the nurses at Mungo's. It didn't seem to matter to the powers that be, but it mattered to Cho.

"Enough about work. We have a life outside of that place. Well, in theory I should, but I know you do. How have you been? Have you spoken to Katie at all?"

"No." Leanne said after a moment of hesitation. She gave a little sigh and leaned her head back. "I miss my best friend. I never should have said anything."

Cho thought about pointing out that Leanne should've never allowed herself to love someone, but resisted. She knew that not everyone viewed emotions the way she did. Some people actually enjoyed them, rather than fearing them.

"Either way you risked losing her, you know. Holding back from someone is the same as a lie. If I were you, I'd rather be missing someone because I was honest rather than losing them because I couldn't bring myself to tell the truth."

Leanne nodded. "At least I was honest." She said. "Though, I'm still pretty miserable about it. And lonely." She leaned back in her chair.

"You don't think I'm... un-loveable, do you?"

"Merlin, of course not." Leanne was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Cho couldn't imagine someone like that being unloveable. "I think relationships are meant to be a disaster, but you know that. It's not like I have any luck with them."

"At least you get in and out of them." Leanne said. "You know how long it's been since I've been kissed?" She really didn't want to admit it, even to herself. --Especially to herself.

"Believe me, if I could take back what happened witch Michael a few weeks back I would. I'd rather not be involved with anyone. Not that I'm involved with Michael. My point is having some not work out is far worse than not having anything at all."

Cho drank a bit more of her coffee and frowned. She had never, and probably would never, have a decent relationship. She was certain she was simply meant to be alone.

"Well, what about... just... y'know. With Michael." Leanne said, giving a little shrug. "You don't have to be involved. You can just do your thing. That's better than nothing."

If it'd been a long time since Leanne had been kissed, it'd been even longer since she'd y'know.
