Who: Tim and Emma
When: Backdated a couple hours
Where: Tim's place
What: Planning a Halloween party

Tim had sent directions to his place a bit earlier, so he knew that Emma was going to come. He had the place cleaned up, not that it was all that messy to begin with. He made tea, too, and some of that frozen cookiedough you put in the oven. It was silly, but Tim was a nice guy, and that's what he did.

He had a catalog of Halloween decorations on the table, and was idly flipping through it as the cookies cooked. He hopped up to pull the cookies out, then hurried to answer the door at the sound of the knock.

She wasn't about the judge him because of something that he'd had no control over. Emma would wonder for awhile, though, if there really was any way to remove it. She couldn't believe that the hexes couldn't be reversed. "Like it had a mind of its own?" she asked, the tiniest smile playing on her lips.

"Perfect - I can get some black table cloths to cover your end tables and this table," she gestured, making a couple more notes. "Ooh, and maybe some tapered purple candles for all the tables," she envisioned.

"Sort of. I had to learn how I was controlling it." He said, "like a baby experimenting with his fingers."

"That sounds great." Purple, black and orange were great colors together. Especially--perhaps only?--for Halloween.

"What do you think about music?" He asked.

"I think I love music," she replied with a smile. Yeah, she was being a bit of a flirt, but Emma got the feeling that he wasn't noticing. She smirked and shrugged. "I'm not picky when it comes to music. I think it would be cheesy if you just played spooky Halloween music, so just play what's popular until someone demands you change it," she laughed.

Tim couldn't help but break into a flirtatious smile. She was flirting with him, wasn't she? It'd taken him a moment to notice, but he was catching on now. She was fit, and she was flirting with him. How did he not notice?

"All right. S'pose I can do that. Though, I'd like to play whatever people like... Maybe you can put together a playlist for me?"

"What if I like really weird, old muggle music?" she asked, peering over at him. "What would you do then? Everyone would stand here and wonder where the weird music came from." There was a pause and she tried not to grin, but she couldn't help it; she was enjoying herself. And she really liked Tim's smile. "Don't worry, I don't like muggle music very much... unless it's classical music," she told him.

Tim gave a laugh. "Well, I don't think you'd be the type to enjoy weird music. Besides, I don't think the music's going to be that important, anyway." Tim shrugged a little, setting his teacup down again. His tail was getting tired.

"I can just hook up the wireless."

"That's probably the best idea," Emma agreed. "I will get some fancy platters for food - purple, orange, green, black," she listed off, writing everything down.

She took another cookie, picking at it as she looked over at him. "So... tell me about what happened at the Quidditch match... when that happened..." she said, gesturing toward his tail.

"Sounds good." Tim agreed, nodding, as he picked up his teacup with his hand to finish it off.

"Oh... well, I was on my way out... It's really a dull story. I got hit by two curses at once that counteracted with each other, and I woke up in St Mungos."

"That's horrible," she said, pursing her lips. "I mean... well... sorry, I don't mean to pry," Emma said, popping a piece of cookie in her mouth. She couldn't imagine going through life with something like that - she was too vain, but Tim seemed to be a bigger person then that.

Tim shrugged softly. "It's okay, I mean... I don't mind." It surprised him how much he meant that.

Emma sipped her tea, then she had to laugh a little. "This certainly won't be like any of the parties my parents hosted when I was younger," she mused. "Dinner parties were sit down, formal affairs where each course was planned out according to the tone of the dinner. I sat through my share of boring dinner parties."

"That sounds so stuffy." Tim said, making a face. He shook his head. "I hope this is going to be a bit more entertaining." He added, grinning.

"Trust me, anything will be more entertaining," she grinned in return. A clock somewhere chimed a late hour. "Oh, I hate that I have to work on Sunday..." she mumbled, looking up at him. "I should probably be going..."

"Oh, all right." He was a little disappointed, actually. He stood to walk her to the door. "Come visit at work if you can think of anything else we need to do to prepare for the Halloween Party."

She smiled as she rose, hating to break up the evening. "I'm sorry to go... but I have to be at work early tomorrow," she pouted a little. The truth was that Emma had to look in on her mum before rounds, but she wasn't ready to go down that particular road with him yet. He didn't need to know about her family drama.

Tim nodded. "Not a problem. We'll get together again soon to continue our planning." He walked her to the front door. "I'm glad you came over." He said, giving her a warm smile.

"Sounds like a plan," she smiled as she pulled her jacket on. "I'm looking forward to this party," Emma told him, turning as she stood at the door. "Thanks for asking me to help out."

"It was my pleasure, really." He insisted. Then, on a whim, he took her upper arm gently in his hand and leaned over to tap a kiss against her cheek.

Emma smiled softly when he kissed her cheek, lifting her head to look up at him. For a brief moment, she nearly leaned forward to kiss him, but held back - she had a good feeling that she would have another chance to kiss him. Emma smiled again, her cheeks blushing before she opened the door. "Good night, Tim."

"G'night, Emma." Tim said, giving her a smile as she headed out.
