Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Tim and Audrey (if that's okay with you!)
When: Backdated to yesterday morning
Where: Audrey's office
What: Surprise Visit and coffee delivery

Tim was an idiot. I mean, he really was. He didn't approve of his best mate's moving in with a gal he had a crush on, but Tim had had feelings for the same, unavailable girl for how many years now? It didn't seem to bother him, and he hadn't quite put two and two together about being a huge hypocrite. He was just happy that Audrey still gave him the time of day now she was married to Percy.

Fucking Percy. Tim really wished he could hate him. But Percy had this endearing quality... it really drove Tim mad.

This morning he couldn't get her out of his mind. It was bad. They'd shared a rather intimate moment in a dream of his last night, and Tim had woken up with her on the brain. He stopped by a coffee shop on his way into work, and picked up some tea and scones--remembering the kind she used to love while they dated back at Hogwarts.

It was a long elevator ride. He held the tea in his hands, and his tail was wrapped around the bag of scones, and whistled as the doors opened. He walked to Audrey's office, and knocked.

Tim pushed the door open and stepped into the room. He was looking toward her desk for her, but then he saw Audrey on the floor.

"Hi." He said, sounding a little surprised. "...you all right?"

Looking up, Audrey managed a smile when she saw Tim. The old memo was quickly crumbled up and tossed towards to overstuffed rubbish bin. "I'm fine," she lied with a smile. "Come on it. Just dump stuff on the floor. I'll get to it sooner or later."

"Breakfast on the floor?" Tim asked, holding up the teas with both hands and the pastries with his tail behind him. "That just sounds silly."

But he moved to join her on the floor, taking the only spot near her that wasn't covered with papers. He held out one of the teas to her, then brought the pastries around.

"If you can unearth my desk or sofa then we can eat there," she said with a smile. She took the tea and sniffed at it. Mmmmm, perfect. Taking a sip, Audrey found herself thankful for a friend like Tim.

At least he never ignored her.

"We can eat here." Tim said, giving her a smile. Man, she was pretty. He lifted his own tea and sipped it.

"I hope I got it right.' He said, motioning to the tea. They'd spent a few Hogsmeade Weekends in Madame Puddifoot's back when they were in school together.

"And here, breakfast." He held out one of the pastry bags to her. "I hope you like croissants."

"It's perfect, Tim, really." Audrey reached out to rest a hand on his hand and squeezed affectionately. "You didn't have to do this, but I'm terribly glad you have."

At the sight of the other bad, Audrey's stomach rumbled. She hadn't remembered to eat breakfast. Well, almost. She hadn't wanted to be home at the same time Percy or was face an empty kitchen while she made herself a bite to eat. "Oh, you're a saint. Thank you." Taking the bag, Audrey pulled out a fresh and buttery croissant and nearly moaned with happiness. It was just what she needed.

Tim's heartbeat sped up drastically when he felt her hand on his. He gave a little shrug, but was terrified that if he moved his hand at all she'd move hers.

"It was nothing. I had some time... was getting my own breakfast..." It'd only been a few blocks out of the way on his walk this morning. Each way.

"Sure." He opened his own bag and took a bite, looking around her office. "Spring cleaning?"

"Something like that. I needed to get my mind off of things." Off of Percy. Her marriage. The giant aching emptiness she was feeling. "Besides, my patients don't have a place to sit down anymore. Not very hospitable of me, is it?"

"I know how that feels." Tim said. "Well, the getting your mind off things, not not having a place to sit."

He shoved the croissant in his mouth to make himself shut up.

"I haven't seen you around. Have you been sick?" He didn't know why she'd been off work.

"No, I'm fine." Physically she was, at least. Mentally, not so much. If it were anyone else, Audrey wouldn't have discussed what happened, but Tim was a good friend of hers and she trusted him.

And, dammit, she needed someone to talk to.

"Someone wanted by the Ministry broke into Mungo's the week before last and was caught reading my file. Um. My medical file, that is. Concerning my fertility issues."

Tim was mid-sip when she mentioned someone wanted by the Ministry breaking into the hospital to read her file. He coughed on his tea.

"What?" He asked, now growing concerned. A dark expression crossed his features. "Who?"

Audrey shrugged and shook her head. "No one I knew. Percy is working on it. Harry as well." But she knew there was no way they were going to get her answers anytime soon and the problems with her marriage were weighing more heavily on her mind at the moment.

After shuffling papers around for a bit, Audrey sighed and looked up at Tim. "It's not my fault. That we're not getting pregnant. It's not. And even if it is, he shouldn't get angry at me, right?"

"Fuck." It wasn't the most eloquent of things to say, but it was all Tim could come up with. His brain went to awful places. What if this man was after Audrey? What if he'd gotten her?

Her next words made him stop, though, looking over at her. Damn, she was so beautiful. He gave a little sigh, looking into her eyes. "He shouldn't, no."

"I didn't think so." Setting down a stack of letters, she rubbed the bridge of her nose. "It's like a bad joke. The therapist has a marriage she can't fix." It was so frustrating, so unbelievably frustrating. She couldn't make things better no matter how much she wanted to.

And, really, it was all her fault.

"Sorry," she mumbled. "Not your business."

Tim shook his head a little. "Please, don't be sorry. I'm the one who's sorry. I wish there was something I could do to make it all better."

He lifted his tea for another sip, watching her with her paperwork. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Short of convincing my husband to stop hating me because I can't get pregnant? No." Audrey sighed. She could hear the anger and frustration in her voice. It wasn't what she imagined married life to be, but Audrey was at a loss as to how to fix it.

Tim was frowning now. He couldn't imagine ever hating her. For anything. She was a goddess, and did no wrong.

Tim was, however, starting to think that Percy Weasley was the world's greatest prat, and deserved a good smack.

"I'm sure he doesn't hate you." Tim reached forward and took her hand in his own, giving it a gentle, supportive squeeze. "It's just hard for both of you." He added. Though he really wanted to say something nasty about Percy.
