Who? Lavender and Kevin
When? Tuesday, late afternoon
Where? Their flat
What? Lavender has some news for Kevin
Rating? TBD

Lavender had left St. Mungo's a little after lunch, seeing as she hadn't been hungry, lunch hadn't mattered. She'd finished her paperwork, made sure the afternoon shift assistants were settled then headed home to see Kevin. Riding the elevator up, she read a pamphlet she'd gotten from her new maternity mediwitch that explained about the early months of pregnancy. She was already showing a lot of the symptoms - fatigue, sore breasts, and the early stages of morning sickness though Lavender always felt sick around lunch time.

As the elevator opened, she tucked the pamphlet into her bag and pulled out her keys. She'd known about the baby for just over twenty-four hours, but hadn't told Kevin because she'd wanted more information from the maternity mediwitch. Things were looking up, but she still wasn't sure how Kevin would feel about a baby. When she opened the door, Roxy bounded over, barking happily. "Hey girl," she smiled, petting the dog. "Kevin? Babe, you home?" she called out, setting her bag on the table.

She nodded in agreement, looking over at him. "So... babies... what do you think?" she smiled a little. Like they had a choice... nine months from now they would have one of their own!

"They're cute? They poop?" Kevin shrugged. "Uh, I don't see too many babies, y'know? Toddlers are cool. Funny."

"Toddlers talk back," she reminded him. "Babies cuddle and when they don't poop, they smell nice," she smiled over at him. "But... then they turn into teenagers..."

"Donaghan's kids are pretty cute," those were Kevin's only real exposure to kids. That and the younger kids at the home, which he didn't see much past age eleven because he was always at school.

She gave him a look. "Our kids would be cuter," she grinned, running her fingers through his hair. "With your hair... my eyes... your sense of music and my sense of style... fabulous kid for sure."

Kevin kissed her, smiling, glad she'd brushed her teeth. She tasted minty. "They'll be beautiful." He pulled her down to sit with him on the sofa. They could relax and talk. They never really got much chance to talk.

She sat beside him, holding his hand as she turned a little to face him. "So, I'm five weeks pregnant and I'm due on May 7, 2010," she informed him. "The next few weeks will supposedly be... unpleasant and I've been given a vitamin supplement that I have to refill at my next visit to the mediwitch," she said. "The sickness is likely to get worse..."

"Anything we can do to help it?" He stroked her hair, doing anything he could think to soothe her, because as freaked out as he was about a baby, the growing human being was inside of her.

"I thought that and kind of whined to the healer about it. Figuring we're witches she should be able to fix it, she told me that nothing had been developed to safely help women with it... even witches," she pouted. "I just have to deal with it... eat when I can, stay hydrated and rest when I can."

"Well, tell me what you feel like eating and I'll find it." He started rubbing her back gently. "Are you hungry at all now? Now that you've emptied your stomach."

"I'm thirsty," she told him, "and tea and toast actually sounds like about all I can handle," she admitted. "I'm still scared," Lavender told him softly.

Kevin kissed her cheek. "I think that's normal." He patted her backside and got up.

"I'll go make toast and put the kettle on."

Lavender smiled up at him as he left their bedroom to take care of her. She yawned and stretched out on the couch, closing her eyes for a moment. She was exhausted, unable to keep her eyes open.

He came back upstairs a few minutes later with brewing tea (the bag was tied to the handle of the mug) and a slice of buttered toast. He set it down on the bed, the mug on the nightstand. "Are your brothers going to murder me?"

Lavender opened her eyes, watching him as he came into the room. "Yes," she shrugged, "you knocked up their baby sister," she warned him. "However, if you stand behind me, you should be safe as I'm their pregnant baby sister," she countered

"I'll feel so masculine," he sat down and leaned back against the double stack of king sized pillows. Roxy came in and rested her chin on the bed, looking sad and cute.

Lavender sat up on the couch, watching Roxy. "What are you going to do when Daddy brings a baby home next year?" she asked the dog who looked about ready to jump on the bed.

She whimpered and put a paw up on the bed, begging to come up. Kevin laughed. "Make sad puppy eyes at you for attention," he said. "Be jealous."

Lavender rolled her own eyes and laid back down on the couch. "She'd better get her kicks in now because she can't get fur on the furniture once there's a baby here," she said.

"She probably has to pee," Kevin remembered. "She hasn't been out since breakfast. I'm gonna walk her. You okay if I leave you here to eat?"

Lavender nodded. "Of course... I'm just pregnant, not disabled," she teased, lounging to sip her tea.

While he was gone, Lavender started thinking about their future. By their first anniversary, they would have a three-month old baby. It baffled her. Lavender wondered who she could talk to about having a baby and the only person she could think of was her mother. She paused, feeling sick again... she couldn't talk to her mother, her mother would never meet her baby...
