Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Leanne and Miriam
When: Tonight, late
Where: Leaky Cauldron
What: Leanne's obsession with Katie is making her an alcoholic.

Leanne headed to the Leaky Cauldron after work today. She decided that enough was enough. She was going to write down everything she felt, give it to Katie, and let the other woman make up her mind.

She didn't care if it ruined their friendship. Her heart couldn't take it anymore.

She was on her fourth or fifth (sixth?) drink of the evening, and was barely writing straight anymore.

"Drink that all up," Miriam said, as if Leanne was one of her patients.

Leanne took another sip. Apparently she was rather impressionable when she was drunk. She set the glass down.

"I'm so tired now. This really drained me."

"Maybe you ought to get a room here. Be safe," Miriam suggested.

Leanne blinked down at the glass in her hand, then lifted her head to look at Miriam. "That's a really good idea." She said, surprised. What a great idea!

"Then I can just go upstairs and crash."

"I'd hate to be responsible for you going home alone and getting mugged." Even though Miriam didn't get her drunk, it was her responsibility now she'd found her this way.

"Mugged?" Leanne frowned, looking up at Miriam. "I don't want to get mugged." She said, shaking her head. "I'd better stay here." She lifted her glass and sipped from it again.

Miriam left the table and went to talk to the innkeeper. She got a key under Leanne's name and brought it back to the table. "Here you are. You can settle up in the morning."

Leanne looked drunkenly at the key, then grinned up into Miriam's face. She pulled herself out of the booth and teetered on her feet. "Brilliant. Thanks. You're the best."

She reached for the key and nearly fell over.

"Okay, you need more help than I thought." Miriam jumped up and grabbed her around the shoulders. "Put your arm across my back or you'll never make those stairs."

Leanne grabbed hold, thankful for the extra help. She clung to Miriam to stay on her own two feet.

"How can I thank you enough?"

"You could pop by the Ward and ask Gilderoy for his autograph. He's much less needy when he feels sufficiently admired."

Leanne gave a laugh. "I'll do that. He taught at Hogwarts when I was there, you know." She was still leaning against Miriam as they headed through the bar. "I'll even sit with him for a while and let him talk to me."

"You can make up stories if you'd like. He wouldn't know the difference and he's never going to be rehabbed. I'd rather he's just happy."

"It'd be fun to talk to him." Leanne said, somewhat truthfully. She could spend some time in there with him. "I'd like to see him happy."

Miriam walked with her to the stairs, then grabbed the railing so that, if Leanne tumbled, she'd have an anchor. "Up we go."

"Thanks." Leanne took the steps one at a time, still leaning on Miriam a bit. Though, now that she had a destination and was moving, she was a little stronger on her feet.

Miriam unlocked the door for her and put the key on the little rickety table by the door. "There you go. Drink lots of water in the morning."

"Thank you." Leanne wandered into the room and flopped face-down on the bed. It was soft. She'd be asleep in moments.
