Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Marcus & Lisa
What: Checking out her place. The rest of it.
Where: Lisa's flat
When: Tues afternoon.
Rating: Low

For the last few days, Marcus had been weighed down with options. He had two HUGE choices: move in with Tim, where he could practically live for free as long as he cooked every night (which he did anyway), or move in with Lisa. Who was just...Lisa. Tim was one of his good mates, but he couldn't help but feel a little heart string tug at the thought of living with her.

Ahem. Of course he'd never admit it. Ever. He was practically living with Lisa already since he was there so often, after all. Yeah, that's what he'll tell himself.

Either way, he had to check out both places for square footage just to make a decision. Lisa's was first. He never really explored the place outside of the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Marcus apparated right into her living room like he usually did.

"Oi," he called out, wondering where she was. "It's Marcus! I hope you aren't naked." He idly grabbed a girly magazine from the table and flipped through it. Ooh. Treacle Tart recipes.

"So," he began. What was going to say first? "Are you...?" he asked, watching her with concern. His voice was monotonous. Marcus lost all of his characteristic goofiness for this conversation.

Lisa shrugged. She couldn't tell. The tests appeared to be faulty. There was no answer one way or the other. She was probably going to have to go to one of the wizard doctor's at St. Mungo's.

"You don--What do you mean you don't know?" His tone became harsh again. Don't be a jerk, Marcus, he reminded himself. He looked away from her to take a breather before returning back to the conversation more calmly.

"When was the last time you had your...you know. Period." he asked. Marcus knew how it worked.

"I'm a week late." It could have been due to stress. Roger not knowing and then everyone in the hospital finding out. Plus, work was starting to drive her insane.

Marcus put a palm to his forehead, rubbing it down his face. "Vomiting, too," he realized. That was a clear indicator of pregnancy, wasn't it? The more he thought about it, the more it scared him. More and more, he felt like he was the one who was responsible for possibly creating this baby.

"What else?" he asked. He wanted to hear about everything she was feeling, physically.

"I'm pretty emotional." That was a new one, too. She'd never felt as flip floppy as she did with her emotions lately. One second she was happy, then next, she was upset.

"I'm really stressed though. It could just be that." She was eating more than usual, too. But she left that part out.

"Okay, could be that, I guess," Marcus nodded along. He didn't know how women's bodies reacted to things. He only knew the basics. "But we have to know for sure, though. I--erm. Have you scheduled an appointment at Mungo's?"

Lisa shook her head. "I was going to tomorrow morning when I went in for work. It can wait until then." Truth was, she wasn't really feeling up to traipsing into a doctor's office while she was vomiting all over the place and asking them to check out her vagina. It wasn't really a girls dream.

"What am I going to do?" Suddenly, she felt like crying. She leaned over and buried her head against Marcus.

Marcus put an arm around her shoulders, bringing her close as he leaned his chin on top of her head. He nuzzled it lightly with his nose.

"You have to start preparing for the worst," he said. Marcus himself was fearing the worst. "Are you going to tell Roger if you are?"

"No," she mumbled into his shirt. "He's going out with Kaira again. I think it would just be better if I pretended it was yours or something." She sniffled, not realizing the weight of her words. But the fact of the matter was, she felt safe in her friends arms. There, on the sofa, that felt right. With Roger had felt right, too, but it was a different kind of right. The kind where you're too afraid to touch something because it might break.

She'd be better off raising a baby with her best friend than with some guy who probably doesn't want anything to do with her besides a professional relationship.

"Lisa--" he said quietly in response. He didn't know how to respond to her request, whether she was joking or not. The truth was, he would have been glad to raise a child with Lisa, even if it wasn't his. She would need help and he'd want to be there.

"Well," he finally replied, feeling some of his animation come back into him. "Looks like I'd have to move in with you, in that case. You could use the extra help cleaning out your curtains if you're going to have a baby around." He grinned.

"Yeah, like you'd ever clean," she said, after a moment. She looked up and grinned, though her cheeks were a bit tear stained and her eyes were red.

"You're right. I probably wouldn't. But still! You'll need someone to cook, while you clean, right? I can do that." He said cheerfully.
