Timeline: Sunday, November 25th. Not too long after their arrival.
Description: Reunion! Hugs! Friend times! ... Wait, Layla has friends?
Rating: Look out for Shiro's language.
She had waited a long time. A really long time. Between the days they had spent on the island, to the moments when the camera feed shut off, to the news that they had been picked up by SHIELD, Layla had waited. And now she waited outside of the infirmary, knowing that this where they had gone off to, to check wounds that could be serious or not, she didn't know. She knew better than to let her mind wander with the what if's in this situation. It wouldn't help her in this moment and it wouldn't make the waiting any better. No, she had hope that they were all right-- and that if they weren't, then they would be all right. The waiting became a little too much. She had gone down to the infirmary, standing outside of its doors, moments after their arrival had been announced. How long she waited for, she didn't know, but she couldn't take it anymore. There were other students down there with her, only a few of them, but ones that also waited for their friends or teammates that had gone to the island. Layla took a step closer to the door, listening carefully for what was happening on the other side. The noises she heard were many, but she was sure-- almost positive-- that she heard Shiro's voice on the other side of it. And where Shiro was, Jamie had to be too, right? It was that thought that guided her to opening up the door to the infirmary. Despite the bustle and craziness that was happening, Layla stepped inside. She remained close to the door, looking for any sign of the two in the mess of all the injured students. She found them-- or, rather, she found the back of Jamie's head sticking out above most of everyone else's. Next to him was Shiro, she saw, and that was when everything hit her. She had heard Jamie's confessions when they had been preparing for their hunt. The dupe Jamie had left behind had been with her then and hearing the words Prime said to Shiro, it cemented any hint the dupe had given her that day. But this wasn't all about her feelings for Jamie, or the ones he had for her. No. Jamie and Shiro had survived the odds, they had made it back alive, and the two people she had grown closest to in God-knows-how-long had come back home. "Jamie! Shiro!" It wasn't usual for the small blonde to call out to anyone, but this was an appropriate moment for it, even in the infirmary. She made sure to stand on tiptoe, to wave her hand, anything to appear a little taller to get their attention. |
