Log: Walter and Angie Summary: During all this crazy business, Walter gets some advice from Angie.
Angie: Ah, the kitchen. The nexus of most social meetings. The place where people went to sustain themselves, or indulge. It was a comfort zone of sorts for most people. At the moment though, Angelica was just thirsty. She wanted some water, or maybe someone of that raspberry-limeade, that was good. ... Maybe some breakfast too. She had school in a couple of hours.
Only a few more days until spring-break. Thank God.
With a loud yawn she swung the doors to the kitchen open, scratching the back of her coppery topped head. She glanced about blearily, slightly slouched in her baby blue pajamas. It would seem someone else was already occupying the kitchen, slumped at the table staring at nothing in particular. She gave a sleepy smile.
"Mm, mornin' Walter." Her bare feet trudged along the cold tiles of the floor. "You're---" another sharp yawn, "up early."
Maybe ... she should go for the coffee?
Walter: Walter doesn't go to school anymore. He should probably work on graduating, but instead he worked. He liked to be early, make coffee, check the journals, get fully awake before his day starts. Shoulders hunched, elbows on the table, he was looking down at his handheld.
Now, it's not as if the Beaubiers were his only friends. Not by far. But he cared for them, they needed someone to care for them. They're both so reckless. The stunt they pulled this morning was particularly upsetting. They wouldn't let Walter help, Aurora was apparently flashing truckers, and Julian was making it worse.
"Hi, Angie." Distracted, maybe even a hint of grumpy? Oh dear.
Angie: To not go to school. How nice would that be? Only a year to go, a year to go. That was the mantra she held near and dear. If she could make it through one more year without incident she'd be home free. Until college anyway.
Oh, Walter. Bless your big, beastie heart for caring so about the Beaubier siblings. Angie didn't really know JP, but she did know Aurora...or JM...or whoever she was at the moment, and she knew that by itself was a handful, and here he was dating her!
Her brows rose at his response, it was usually so much more jovial. "Hi yourself, busy?" He seemed to be noticeably distracted by his handheld. Angie went for the fridge, she wanted her limeade, unaware of the distressing situation he was dealing with.
Walter: "I don't want to boss her around, but gee, how do you tell her to stop?" Walter blurt all this out as if Angie has been reading over his shoulder for the last ten minutes. "I also would like to punch Julian in the face, but..." Heaven forbid someone think Walter was a bad guy.
Angie: "Huh?" She was now officially puzzled, turning to face Walter. What on earth was he talking about? "Um, Walter I'm a bit confus---oh, I want to punch Julian too. Just...wham, right in the--" She still remembered those uggo comments, okay?
"I mean--" She glanced over at the fridge, shrugging. Soon she found herself sitting across from Walter, her brows furrowed in concern. "What's up?"
Walter: Walter held his phone out to Angie. It was easier seen than explained. "Well, maybe I wouldn't punch him." Walter wasn't entirely sure who'd win in a fight. He may have size over Julian, but doesn't he have telekawhatsit? Either way, Walter doesn't really want to get into a fight.
Angie: Casually taking the phone into her hands her eyes scanned over the text quickly, the corners of her mouth turned down as the fingers from her free hand tapped along the table top. She offered the handheld back to Walter, "Ignore him. Who cares what he says?" She tilted her head to the right ever so slightly. "Besides, despite the flashing---Aurora is completely ga-ga over you. Really."
Walter: Wouldn't it be nice if ignoring someone really worked? It was the advice of schoolteachers and parental figures for years, but it has never done any good. Walter took the handheld back and set it aside. "It's her body." She can do with it whatever she wants. Right? What are the rules? Where's the line? Is that coffee done yet? So many questions!
Angie: It was true. Ignoring only went so far, really. Angie crossed her arms, "Walter, don't you dare." She can see what you are doing, buster! "She's your girlfriend. That counts for something too. Maybe you should just talk to her, let her know how it makes you feel, she's seriously---" Angie was going to use the phrase 'crazy over you', but that was a touchy subject. "---really serious about you."
A wince. Okay. Not so good with the wording.
"Okay, listen to me." She leaned in to get a good look at his face, her brows knitting together. "You love her. Even if you haven't said it, I'm a girl. We have a radar for these things. I can see it in your eyes. Plain as day, and let me tell you this. She loves you. I see it in her as well. In her strange, wild way, she loves you. She maybe flashing people, which okay, can be unnerving ... but do you realize since you two have been together, the only guy she wants to spend time with besides her brother is you?" A soft smile lit her lips. "She's trying, in he own ways she's really trying."
She bit back a smile.
"Because all she sees ... is you."
Walter: Wow. Just. Wow. Walter blushed, his eyes unable to meet Angie's. He wanted to ask her how she knew this, but decided against it.
Instead, he just smiled. Looked down fondly at his handheld, like it was some sort of small, fuzzy creature. "You're very sweet, Ang." Was it the truth or was she trying to make him feel better?
Angie: "I have my moments I guess." She chuckled a little, her shoulders rolling in a shrug. To her, the expression on swimming over his face confirmed everything she had just said. Especially the warm, liquid look in his eyes as he gazed at the handheld.
Angie knew what she was talking about. Actually, anyone who paid attention would know. It's just fact! Meh, if only she could follow her own advice.
"You know it's true, I don't know why you need me telling you this. You know if some other girl gave you goo-goo eyes--- Aurora wouldn't have it." Angie left it at that. She didn't even want to think about how Aurora would react, it made her cringe a little inside. Moving on! " I think she can flirt with other people openly because it doesn't mean anything to her, not the way you do." She settled back in her chair, "Think of all the things she doesn't do for them that she does for you. That should say loads."
Walter: Walter was convinced by that point. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who isn't related to the girl in question. There was a slight moment when he wondered what Angie meant. Things she did for him that she doesn't for them? Ah, best not dwell on it. "Oh, all right. But sometimes I think she'd like me to get mad or jealous, and I don't. It's all so confusing."
Angie: You'd figure it out one day Walter! Angie wasn't even sure how else to explain it, honestly. Aurora was a complicated woman. She bit back a grin at his comment about jealousy, "Could be. Maybe you should just ... pull her up to you and give her a passionate kiss that says, 'this is my woman.' I'm sure that would make her day."
Walter: Walter's face, neck, and ears turned a shade of red. "Oh..." A little bit like he wasn't sure, a little bit like he can't believe she said such a thing. "All right..."
Angie: "Sometimes girls like to see their guys act like that," she shrugged casually. "Not like I have experience on that matter or anything." Ugh, so embarassing. "...Walter, just be yourself. That's what interested her in the first place."
Walter: "Will do." He tipped an imaginary hat at her. "Now, how can I repay you? Need a couch moved? A DVD player need to be set up?"
Angie: "Not at the moment," the corners of her mouth lifted. "How about I let you know if anything comes up?" She rose with a stretch, tilting her neck to one side. She ruffled the top of his curly crown fondly. Time to stop worrying so much, Walter! "Now, I think I am going to get some breakfast. That means you're joining me, too."
